Gut the mode. Remove the zone capture maps (AB, DG, SSM, DHR)
People cannot play the maps correctly for the life of them and it’s getting old fast. Just do basic maps where a brain isnt needed.
Also add it to where ELO hell is non-existant because holy god trying to climb on alts is the most mind numbing terrible experience. I could be chain farming a whole team while mine is somehow still dying / not playing the objectives at all.
Crazy how this mode went from a decently okay mode to absolute garbage so fast.
No, Blizz should keep multi-objective maps. Battlegrounds should offer a different experience from arenas, which focus primarily on killing blows and are dominated by classes that are currently overpowered.
A well-designed battleground map should have multiple interconnected objectives that encourage strategy beyond just killing a flag carrier. This way, even classes with lower DPS and healing output can still make contributions.
Maps like Eye of the Storm and Deepfall Ravine Blitz are great examples. For instance, when you pick up the crystal in DR, you have to think carefully about where to run next, you can’t just mindlessly head back to your team’s portal to cap. Another example is in EOTS sometimes players grab the flag then jump off cliff, or DKs grip EFC to force a cap, or intentionally drop the flag at a flag stand located in a tower controlled by enemies, then start capping the tower.
Wrong. They’re trying this with blitz and it’s failing horribly. Go que a match on an alt and realize quickly a majority of the players are genuinely too inept to understand simple map concepts. If you’re going to stick people in ELO hell because of an ignorant refusal to fix big issues like such then the mode shouldn’t exist. It’s literally borderline impossible to climb on alts because 1200-1600 mmr is full of literal bots.
LOL they’re trying this with AB and the other zone objective maps and it’s failing horribly.
EoTs is simple in concept which is fine. Second one you’re literally hard trolling on. I’ve played the floor mmr and also around 2600 mmr and it has never gone good on that map.
Yes you can huh? That’s what most people do.
This rarely happens unless you’re around 2300+ mmr. Again you cannot design content specifically for that very very minute percentile of players. This doesn’t address what the post even was about hence im gonna just disregard you saying this.
ye a lot of these can be less intuitive for new players. Lower rating eots often times includes some people just standing around at inactive nodes, or standing at active nodes but not interacting with the flag because they think it works like normal eots.
Once you get out of the clueless player brackets, these are some of the best maps imo.
AB and DWG are pretty un-fun though and I wouldn’t mind seeing them reworked or just removed from the rotation. A lot of matches are won by just running back and forth between two nodes and not ever getting any actual pvp in, and a team being spread so thin across 5 flags means you’re more likely to just not even be able to contest a point because it’s a 1v1 vs a rogue and you lost at character select.
If anything they should remove the maps from the playable rotation until higher rating is achieved (1900/2k) so people are less likely to get hard griefed by jimmy 10 iq no enchants / gems / all honor gear just bot running into narnia and complaining / raging in bg chat as to why the team is losing.
Dumb down the maps for lower rated players or make ELO hell nonexistant. It shouldn’t exist to the degree it does at the current moment. I’d rather jump into oncoming traffic than attempt to hard carry a 1v8
How about no. Having only capture the flag maps sounds insanely horrible.
So the solution is to make all the maps the same and the mode incredibly boring? You want control over who you play with RBGs are still a thing.
Welcome to playing a solo (duo in some cases) mode. This happens. Bad elo’s happen in all PvP games.
I have been playing the mode since it was a brawl. Nothing has really changed. More players yes, and more new comers to rated pvp or at minimum making a return to check out BGB. Funny how a mode meant to get more people into PvP has turned into every other mode where the goal is to ad barriers or basically deter people from queuing. RBGs problems go beyond just the community, but the RBG community did a lot to hurt it’s own mode, and it’s starting to make it’s way into BGB now.
Exactly, arena was pushed so hard and BGs forgotten for so long everyone has arena brain. Stop trying to change BGB (BGs) into some ultra boring esport rule based mode. That is what 3v3 is for.
Based on what? Compared to RBGs? Or what?
Ya gonna take some times since arena’s became the focus and where all the major rewards where for so long for people to learn how BGs work. But it’s a solo queue mode. It’s going to be chaos.
Bots = the new word for the majority of the player base now days it seems lol.
Failing how?
EotS has more going on the Deephaul Revine does though? Deaphaul is literally just two carts and a crystal you can pick up. EotS is 4 bases, only 2 active at a time, a flag in the middle that can be help or not held. 2 bases control is more points for a flag cap but also you don’t really want to cap a flag if you have too bases until the end. The only reason you say this is because EotS is a map that has existed at least for a while. Deephaul is brand new with a design made to work in normal bgs and BGB. People don’t know the map yet.
BGs need a dungeon journal type thing that tells how the maps work in different modes. This would help. But maps aren’t any less intuitive than they are for a new player doing normal BGs for the first time. I am going to be honest you can see the players that haven’t touched non rated BGs in forever but how they talk about BGB and interacting with other players.
I mean RBGs are still there for people to play if BGB isn’t serious enough for you. BGB isn’t mean to be the sweatiest of places for competition, it’s basically a casual rated PvP mode to help introduce players to more competitive pvp/bgs. What you are talking about only further complicates the modes. So now you will get players that will push to a certain rating, get maps they aren’t familiar with and then get flamed at those higher ratings for not knowing how they work.
You certainly care otherwise you wouldn’t be here giving suggestions. Idk to me until the rating system gets some kind of rework (for all modes) elo hells are going to always exist. The reason it’s hard to get past 1600 on alts is a few reasons:
PvP participation as a whole seems to be way down.
Less players = less people pushing especially at lower ratings, and there is already an issue in all modes with a majority of people quitting/stuck at certain reward points, 1600 and 1800 seem to be the most common with the tier token and elite sets.
Those things make climbing in rated pvp in general on alts hard to do especially in solo queue modes. At the start of the season say on your main you are right in the middle of all the start of the season activity.
I cared. I don’t care to argue with a guy not even playing the xpac and blindly fighting in favor of a garbage system. I give up you win. Enjoy the trashpile I’m gonna go do productive things.
I am not saying the mode has no issues, but anything wow PvP will have elo issue etc until they rework the rating system in general. Deleting maps doesn’t fix anything, imo it actually hurts it more.
Nah man cause any criticism/solutions I voiced you instantly have to fight against when you’re literally not even playing in my bracket so I’ll just accept the forum gladiator knows better and stop caring.
ELO hell doesnt have to exist in games as there are multiple different solutions
BGB isnt for learning it’s an alternative to RBG’s
The current system is failing hence the dropoff in players
Ya sorry I don’t agree with you completely. I agree there are maps with issues (DWG, EotS etc) but deleting them isn’t the answer. Especially in favor of FC maps because I know a lot of people who are not fond of FC maps as well.
Ya sorry having disagreements happen, I often think some of the solutions given to fix certain things are rather extreme and not well thought out. They tend to be “I am frustrated with x,y,z please delete them” kind of solutions. BG modes are meant to be objective based. BGs have been ignored for so long players are having to re-adjusted to playing a objective based mode instead of the death match style of arena that for song long seemed that the only thing Blizzard focused on.
Yes at no. Learning even happens in RBGs. I used to run and help run learning RBG groups. But BGB while an alternative maybe it’s not the same mode. At least with RSS the goal is the same as a 3v3 match. But either way learning is going to happen in BGB whether you like it or not. Learning happens in all modes. It’s just more apparent and affects you more in a solo queue mode.
Again the drop off in players seems to be across all mode, hence posts like this: PvP Feels Neglected from the Top Down in the arena forums. And PvP seems to have been seeing drop offs for a while overall compared to the past.
You’re literally talking to yourself at this point. You won the online argument you had for brownie points. I don’t care at all and this failing system can continue to fail itself into being deleted. Stop bothering me thanks.
The strategy in Deepfall Ravine is subtle. For example, if the residuals of your controlled cart(s) can win the game, you as the crystal carrier should stay with the carts. Leaving your group and rushing to cap the crystal on your own could allow enemies to kill you and immediately cap the crystal at your own team’s portal.
Another scenario is when the enemy’s controlled cart has less than 150 points left. In this case, you should definitely avoid running back to your team’s portal to cap the crystal without an escort. Doing so could give the enemies too many incentives to chase you or launch a backdoor attack through the viaduct, including your team’s cart about to spawn, the 200 crystal points, and the mini timewarp.
I’ve also seen our crystal carrier head to the enemy’s portal because our newly respawned teammates were heading there through the viaduct.
There are some other situations like this, it’s truly a fun map.
All they need to do is put enemy location dots on our maps and the game mode is 10x better. This would help us and our teammates intelligently decide where to go on the map without the usual frustration.
