Its time to delete offhand weapons from the game

I just got a 405 offhand weapon on my resto druid. It WOULD have been an amazing upgrade from my 375 staff.

However, seeing as I don’t have a main hand and if I did have a mainhand it would be lower ilvl anyway, the 405 offhand I just got is useless.

At the very least can we get an option to choose if we want a staff or a one hander? Im pretty upset that this could have been a 405 staff.

I’m sorry to hear that. My condolences.

Would love this.

Just hold it in both hands, problem solved, firmly grasp it.

Yeah. It’s annoying. Best to just hold on to any offhand and one hand weapons you get - well one of each. Then if one drops that’s a nice ilvl upgrade you will most likely be able to use it and have it be an upgrade over your two hander. Hang on to that nice offhand and cross your fingers for an equally nice one hand drop

I’m inclined to agree. I’ve been in the “warlocks should wield staves” crowd since vanilla (both this one and my orc one do), and I’m always swearing myself purpler whenever I get an off-hand when I’m carrying a staff…

It used to be cool to get an offhand. That was way back when loot wasnt so rng. Now its feels totally depressing. So yeah Im with you on the get rid of them boat.

What’s even more infuriating, say you already had a 405 staff, then got the 405 offhand (your first at that i-lvl), you wouldn’t be able to trade it in a raid environment to someone who could use it right away.

I’d be totally down with it as long as we could transmog into one-hand w off-hand.

I learned that lesson the hard way. So I always hang onto my main hand and off hand when replacing them with a two-hander. You just never know what’s going to drop later on.

Considering the fact that some specs are at a disadvantage while gearing due to needing two weapons instead of just one, I personally think they should change 1h weapons to act as both main and off-hand like artifact weapons did. Weapons seem to be the most difficult loot to find right now, which makes needing two hurt even more than it did in the past.

I had thought the 415 nazjatar quest weapon was going to be Blizz’s attempt to help people who’ve had trouble getting weapons to drop, but nope that was a “bug” it turns out.

Ditto. I would also be in favor or giving us the option.

The weapon system is outdated and unbalanced.

For some classes and specs (e.g. hunters, ret pallies, blood DK, arms warrior), any time a weapon drops or is a reward, it is ALWAYS a FULL weapon.

For other classes and specs (e.g. warlocks, priests, mages, monks, druids), any time a weapon drops or is a reward, it MIGHT be a full reward (staff / polearm / 2H) or it MIGHT be half a weapon (1H, OH).

And for the unlucky few (e.g. fury warriors, prot pally, prot warrior, rogues, DH), any time a weapon drops or is a reward, it will ALWAYS be HALF a reward (MH, shield / OH).

They should just combine any combo weapon slot items to be a single item (e.g. MH / OH, pair of daggers, pair of glaives, etc), or at least provide both as a pair in drops and rewards.

use it to bludgeon the mobs to death… I like that.

They proved they can do it with artifact weapons.

I see no reason to not continue it with all weapons from now on.

Artifact weapons spoiled me and also reminded me that if you dps with 2 one handers you are going to have a much harder time getting on par with a 2 handed weapon user. Just adopt the off hand being built in to the drop and it solves problems for a decent portion of your player base. Good post OP.
