Vault stunk, this is a bad take
I agree that the kind of a catch up mechanic for conquest doesnât hurt anything. Especially if it only applied to typical rated PvP, rather than speeding up crate farming.
The catch up mechanics for pvp gear are conquest you didnt earn one week, you can still get another week. And a determined person can join a War Crate farming raid group and be conquest capped in about two days.
War crate farming groups sound really, really boring. People should be able to get decent conquest from actually doing PvP. I honestly want to spend my limited time in WoW doing fun things like PvP.
And no, the seasonal time gate cap is not a catchup mechanic. If anything, youâd actually have to spend more time earning conquest than someone who was already capping each week due to the weekly PvP quests and daily first win bonuses. Itâs really easy to cap your conquest each week by just doing a few battlegrounds, the weekly sparks quest, and a couple of crates. It takes much more time if youâre trying to cap it by doing battlegrounds or arena, even rated, later in the season to play catchup.
Thereâs many ways the system could be improved.
âŚyou know you get 100 bloody tokens per world quest, right?
You can buy 652 PvP gear from the AH, then farm BGâs for 665.
From there, you could also do bloody tokens just from World Quests to get several good 675 pieces, and you probably get some conquest from BGâs as well.
Then, solo shuffle or bg blitz for more conquest, or spam 2s for conquest.
Its incredibly easy to gear up for PvP, as it should be.
Vault created a larger great gap until the people keeping up with their gear were fully geared out. The vault was a terrible design, few pvpers miss it
Free conquest weapon at 2500 conquest
4 tier charges (now)
Bloody tokens are very easy to get
9 heraldries for turning in a quest after completing instanced PvP
Conquest is a bit of a pain if youâre not actively doing rated content but as others have said, do the boring create raids when theyâre up. They may not be up 100% of the time but they often are
Gearing is easy. Vault fixes nothing
No, i donât want to farm 5000 honor a week in rated only where a Blitz or shuffle loss is 200 honor
Per character, for maybe a reward
You have conquest and bloody token cap and if youâre penny wise with your crafts you can have full purples this week.
I hate that rated gear is better than honor gear, but i would downvote rng pvp gearing again 10 billion times
I have sympathy for people who start a season kind of late. Whichever way you slice it itâs a grind unless youâre still in school and/or want to appear âcoolâ on the interwebs.
Apart from getting your basic honor set Iâd try crate farms and bloody tokens for some filler WM gear.
I donât think not having PvP vault matters much anymore, but you do need conquest as usualâŚ
Youâre doing it wrong. No hate my guy or gal, but it doesnât take that long. There are so many pathways to get gear that gear itself has lost all meaning.
Realms mean nothing and havenât for ages. LFG is cross realm. As are communities.
You get 2-3 pieces from your first bg win. Iâd just do the rings and neck. Then, just hit all the world quests that give bloody coins while finishing your weeklys. Thatâs enough to buy a weapon and a couple pieces. Since youâre alli, there are always weekend groups for crates. I spent a couple hours doing one the other day and got 700+ conquest and a bunch of honor and coins. I was all of 3-4 hours in and already had half a set of decent gear.
Iâm casually gearing my 4th character atm.
Anywho. Vault was awful and Iâm glad itâs gone. Being unlucky every week was incredibly frustrating. Oh, you just bought a back piece, hereâs more back pieces for you!!1
Vault felt real bad if you didnt get a BiS piece from it, but pretty good when you would. I think the free weapon from 2500 conquest earned and the free tier charge for having rating, is better than vault rewards.
That was my issue with it, those first few weeks werenât just a gear gap - they were an RNG gear gap
Luck out and get your 2h weapon first week in the vault? Well youâre set for the season. Not only did you get the weapon first week but you also donât have to spend the conquest later on this weapon
Didnât get your weapon first week? Have fun with your belt/ring/adaptation trinket and being behind for the rest of the season
That you could be put weeks to even months behind other players was awful. I had plenty of seasons where I didnât get a single useful item. I had others where I got the weapon week one. Itâs funny to me that the same people who complained about weapons being locked behind 1800 or 2200 are fine with RNG deciding who gets the best gear. Makes no sense.
Yup this. It was a terrible system. Someone who got lucky with weapon and some expensive gear pieces (chest, helm, legs) could be in full conquest a month ahead of someone who got unlucky and got just rings or items they already have in the vault. RNG being a huge swing in PvP gearing was awful game design.
On top the RNG factor, it made it so you had to log on and cap vault every week or youâd be forever behind. People think itâs rough coming in mid season now?? Lol imagine if you came back and not only had to catch up with honor and conquest grind but you were facing people that had 4+ pieces of extra free conquest gear. As someone who travels alot for work it was horrible, if I missed a week because I was out of town I would just always be down a potential slot, there was zero making that up.
Removing vault from PvP gearing was one of the biggest wins for PvPers IMO.
Although TWW is the best gearing in wowâs history, it is annoying to me that the most efficient conquest grind is mindlessly farming crates in a raid. It would be nice to have a conquest catchup mechanism
War crates, in a raid group. It might not be the catchup mechanic you want, but itâs the catch up mechanic that works exceedingly well.
Iâve capped 7 chars from 0 cp to max via just crate groups and never seen a decline once. People do get kicked out for joining instances and messing up shards, though.
I capped just 2, but could have capped one of every class with the tine weâve had this season. I enjoy solo BGs the most, but crate farming does offer sone funny conversations Iâve enjoyed. Raid members telling mages they need to find a mage to cover their shift before they can leave group was pretty funny. Other folks have discussed talent builds and rotations. It is a little bit of pvp community rebuilding.
At the very least give us the tier piece at 1600! Come on man!
Thatâs hilarious but also what audacity. Is this on alliance?
I may have been lucky then, but my groups have all been on horde. Everyoneâs been super civil, supporting, chat is quite pleasant. Iâve shared vicious flasks with a bunch of random strangers, all in all a very pleasant (but boring) experience.
I do prefer to do actual pvp for fun but its nice to catch up on gear this way.
