It's time to change the Resto Druid Mastery

Honestly something controversial I thought, Make Lifebloom permanent, we get to Lifebloom 2 targets (with Undergrowth) can rotate them as normal for mastery stacks especially with Harmonious Blooming, in compensation for losing its expiration Bloom effect they can beef up our other HoTs.

Lifebloom will still have the usual synergy with Verdancy and Photosynthesis (which is a way to get it to Bloom since it cannot expire), so it still interacts with our HoTs.

Essentially it’s saved GCDs as we don’t have to continuously refresh it, ontop of everything else.

Gives more time to focus on other HoTs, DPS, mechanics.

It’s really a good QoL change that will bring back the focus on our other HoTs especially when buffed in compensation.

I like Resto’s Unique healing profile but clearly we can tell it’s not cutting it in modern wow and we do need to be modernised in some way.

I’d also love to see Adaptive Swarm return, make it a choice node with Call of the Elder Druid and Dream of Cenarius modified to include our old Unbridled Swarm depending on what we pick.

If we go Call of the Elder Druid its subsequent node is Dream of Cenarius if we choose Adaptive Swarm its subsequent node is Unbridled Swarm.

I’d rather our Mastery be reworked to something less archaic. But I do love the idea of Lifebloom becoming basically a Paladin beacon you can place on someone. This would definitely make it more fun and manageable with talents like Photosynthesis and Verdancy.

In fact, you could even tie “blooms” into other abilities like Ferocious Bites or Starsurge. For example, casting Starsurge/Bite/Swiftmend on a target forces a bloom.

Nice idea, I like it.

Cata mastery after the first patch was your direct healing is increased by x and casting a direct heal applies harmony increasing the healing of your hots by x for 10 seconds. It was at a time when snapshotting still existed so you pretty much had to stop whatever you were doing to throw out a nourish or regrowth (healing touch was expensive) every 10 seconds just to keep the buff up.

Yah. The current mastery i think is fine itself, its how many random tiny mastery fodder spells we have padding the theoretical max forcing them to tune base spells low; while the average mastery per person is probably 3/4 stacks (rejuv, regrowth, wildgrowth/lifebloom) with talents and conditionals we can get up to 12 mastery stacks on a single person. Thats a like 40% average mastery bonus vs a cap around 160% bonus, which is way to swingy to balance well.

They need to remove the weak mastery fodder only talents; grove tending, cultivation, maybe springblossom(rework it to make efflo hit 5 or get buffed by swiftmend like the tier 20 bonus) and then buff the baseline 15~20% to make up for the theoretical mastery loss they sometimes provide smoothing out the average.

I’m glad you agree, and love the idea to force it to Bloom which just compliments our playstyle further.

Like I said the issue is we haven’t been modernised, and clearly from results we are falling behind in every way possible.

Yet people are holding onto this nostalgia thinking it’s our best route. We need changes, we need QoL, if we continue this way Resto Druid is just going to continue to suffer.

Our Mastery doesn’t need to change, but other things do.

I know this is irrelevant to some extent, but the most fun and fluid playstyle I have ever had while playing resto druid was during Hellfire Citadel in WoD.

The tier bonus buffed Lifebloom and I was basically able to spread it around to keep an entire mythic raid alive. We’re talking 35-50% overall healing and it was just… the cherry on top.

It’s still doable but not as powerful. I think if that exact tier set was injected into our talents somewhere, we would see some serious efficiency and power back.

That tier set is pretty much in the game though. Undergrowth is the 4 set have it up on 2 targets bonus and the 2 set got wrapped into the photo on other people bonus.

Thats where those 2 talents come from, we"ve had the tier in the game since legion as either a legendary or artifact power pretty much the last 7 years.

Yeah… just unfortunately not as powerful. It didn’t rely on other hots.

I feel the lack of defense without iron fur while tanking 8’s and above in M+. Its made it mandatory to play around talents that buff ironfur with a lot of builds gutted due to the sheer amount of empty talents bear tanks have after spending all their points.

I’ve moved over to a port warrior and its night and day with the talent tree design and baseline defensives.

I think the issues with being so dependent on ironfur stem more from being so rage starved as a lot of defensives interact with rage spenders like maul rather than the actual fact ironfur is needed to be used so much.
