As I’m sitting here reading the patch notes for 11.1 I keep thinking to myself…
It looks like they’re slowing down the rotation a bit and kind of front loading the damage a bit more. Okay? I’m okay with this but there’s a problem I see happening.
I feel like if you slow the rotation down for fire what’s going to happen is we’re not going to be getting as many casts off say for each mob we pull in a Mythic dungeon or in a raid. With less casts being cast this will reduce our dps quite substantially and having Flamestrike only having 10% increase just isn’t going to make up for the loss of casts being made per pull. So this got me thinking.
Bring back old combustion. If you’re going to slightly slow down the rotation what you should do is actually front load the damage even MORE! We aren’t going to be able to have combustion for each mob that we pull and that’s fine but if we don’t have combustion, our dps severely lacks.
I personally feel that if the dps is even more front loaded it’ll make the spec way more fun. It will feel like we’re actually doing something rather than just waiting for Combustion to come back off of CD.
So this leads me further into thinking you should just bring the old Combustion back. If we’re going to have our damage be more front loaded, we won’t need to be using Combustion as often so then when we DO use it say on a target we’ve pumped a ton of Ignite into, we can cast Combustion, spread it with Fire Blast and BOOM.
In my personal opinion, this old Combustion was way more exciting and way more rewarding when used properly. Since the change in I believe Legion, the spec has felt like it was made for a 5 year old rather than for someone that actually wants to be rewarded for good game play.
So yes, I would very much officially ask and beg for the devs to bring the old Combustion back. Really I think it will give into the fantasy of playing fire all around as compared to what we’ve had these last few years.
