Feels like we already need heirloom items for hands, waist and feet.
There are absolutely no barriers to this.

Don’t quite understand the position of those people who came here to say that they don’t like Heirlooms and Blizzard shouldn’t add new ones, are you serious? In current realities, the character needs to be equipped to the maximum from level 1, level up in 1-2 days and play at the maximum level.
As a many people wrote below, leveling in the game is now very fast, in the current situation with the old mechanics of items dropping from bosses (quite rare), the characters will be practically naked and those items that they will receive from bosses will very quickly lose their relevance, for those who do not understand, this is due to the fact that bosses in low-level dungeons and the drop mechanics from them were not designed for such fast leveling and leveling was tens and hundreds of times slower.
True, in your opinion, but in fact they are there now, or are you proposing to remove them altogether? With the current loot system in low lvl dungeons, it’s a so-so idea.
Slots which can be left empty to the maximum level without even feeling it.
At the moment, leveling up to the maximum level takes a couple of days, everything is very fast, it is not necessary.
I can’t say for sure, maybe you spend weeks on quests in which you need to run through 2-3 locations, for example to deliver a letter, in order to get a small drop of experience, now everyone levels up very quickly in dungeons, and in the current state of the game (which I’m not very approve) this is so, put on the heirlooms and lvl up the maximum level.
I want them just for transmog. I make an alt; I choose a leveling mog for them; and I don’t want to have to look at it again until I hit max level.
Nobody needs gear when leveling anymore, and whether or not we like heirlooms (I mean, for heaven’s sake, they gutted them anyway) they’re in the game and have been here forever. Some of us spent a metric truckload of gold on upgrading them to support our altaholic habits back when the extra xp meant something.
But it doesn’t anymore. Now, the heirlooms just scale with level so you can alt without hassle until you hit the end, and the only reason I use them is for mog convenience.
You’re in control of the buttons you press, take off the looms if you want that fun. They don’t even offer xp anymore so they can’t throw off the leveling curve either.
I’m not making an argument, simply participating in the conversation about heirlooms. Back in the day, I bought them because I love to level alts in the 2nd half of an expansion. Once upon a time, that was a lengthy, expensive, and laborious process. Heirlooms granted extra xp and were, therefore, very useful.
The only things they’re good for (in my estimation) now are:
1.) The Aforementioned Transmog Convenience.
It is not the cost of mogging, but the inconvenience of having to do it every time one gets a new piece of gear or else just level looking like a clown. I tolerate that in Classic because it’s part of the game. I don’t have to do that in retail because of heirlooms. Adding the missing armor slots would make that even nicer.
I don’t agree with characterizing this as “vanity.” I’m not doing it to look good for other players who might happen to gaze upon my alt whilst leveling. I’m doing it because I prefer to look at my character in a consistent set of armor that I don’t have to constantly either manage or tolerate.
2.) They Scale as You Level
This saves time, gold, and the frustration of weapon hunting RNG for toons that will only be in that level bracket for a few hours at most. I paid a metric tonne of gold to obtain said heirlooms for the privilege of not having to deal with that. If they made the set complete by adding gloves and belt and boots…so much the better.
if every slot had heirlooms all pre-current expansion tradeskills would almost totally be for vanity, that’s vanity for you. crafted gear’s item level is already awful pre-DF. or maybe pre-SL. even with relics of the past it’s still bad. Maybe I’m vain for liking leveling tradeskills as I level alts. Or just a fool. Oh well.
Not at all. I love leveling tradeskills to the point of distraction. I usually do it for the previous expansion endgame stuff, however, like mogs and mounts and pets.
I still don’t have all of the alchemy and enchanting and engineering pets. The struggle…is real.
I just no longer work myself up to 10-slot silk packs and Mageweave Robes as actual gear. It’s a subtle change in focus, perhaps. I don’t think leveling old iterations of the profs is pointless at all. But even if you didn’t have heirlooms, that gear isn’t really leveling gear anymore because we are only in the level range for like an hour or two at most given how fast it all goes now (part of the core issue in many areas).
It takes longer to level the profession than it does to level out of the gear we just made.
