It's Time for New Mount Achievements

With the release of Dragonflight, we got a long overdue 500 mount achievement and avoided the catastrophe of an underwhelming mount reward (thankfully). However, MoP Remix has added over 30 new mounts, as well as allowing players to way more easily obtain all of the raid mounts in Pandaria. Plus, various Dragonflight patches have added dozens of new mounts to obtain.

With this, 500 mounts is far from the cap of obtainable mounts. At the time of writing this post, I have enough mounts for the 700 mount achievement. Except…there is none.

I know this topic has been talked about a lot, but as a collector, I feel as though we don’t have enough achievements to go after (especially mount-related achievements).

What I’d like to see:

  • At minimum, new intervals of mount achievements. Preferably, intervals going up to the maximum amount of mounts that are in the game. (550, 600, 650, etc.)

  • More achievements like Awake the Drakes. Love it or hate it, it was really satisfying and challenging getting this achievement. I’d love to see more like it. Examples could be collecting all cloud serpents, collecting all the “of the winds” drakes, collecting certain underwater mounts, collecting wolf/cat mounts (there’s plenty of them), etc.

  • And most importantly, the rewards have to be good. It was a struggle just to get a blue otter for an achievement that requires players to be well-rounded in multiple aspects of the game (raiding, pvp, reputations, puzzles, etc.)

Mount Ideas:

  • A Devilsaur. please

  • More transformation/multi-seater mounts

  • Different elementals with Glacial Tidestorm model (fire, earth, air)

  • The last boss from Azure Vault and/or an Emerald Nightmare Dragon. Both are such good models.

  • One of the new Rhino models from Dragonflight. Surprised they weren’t used tbh.

  • A mailbox mount.

As a collector, I see the improvements Blizz has made and the acknowledgements that collectors commonly exist in the game. But there are definitely some missed opportunities that could really get players excited to collect. For example, the Felfire Hawk (250 mount achievement) is what got me into mount collecting in the first place.

eh, they don’t care. It took them like 2 years to add the otter, clearly their most devoted playerbase can go kick rocks.

Stumbled upon this thread and decided to bump it. with the launch of the pre-patch being a mount collector is starting to really feel like a slap in the face.
When they added the 500 mount ach (for my favorite mount in the game - Huge otter fan) they also added 5 pet collection achievements. and at the time one of them was not even obtainable.
Mount collectors are sitting here wanting to work towards a new achievement, wanting something to log into and work towards. But we are sitting here with 500 being the highest achievement. One of my friends just got there 500 mount achievement and it was 100% passive. They are a rep grinder and they just buy the mounts they can.
When a mount collector is sitting there with over 700 mounts and all they have to show for it is the same mount that someone who passably gets mounts from venders can get feels really bad.

On top of that, With the launch of War Within 450+ mounts will become “Sky riding” mounts (basically every flying mount) however missing from that list is the “Otterworldly Ottuk”… Mount collectors most prestigious achievement was just forgotten about and is now worse as it cant even fly without a toggle…

I really hope blizzard resolves this flying otter soon and add more achievements.
