Log into server, send gold to new character, use gold on new character. Oh, my other character needs it too. Send gold. Oh wait, now I need to log into this other server to get gold… so obnoxious. Blizzard. Tie gold to the account. You do it in Diablo, do it here.

This is already part of the warbank, but that’s currently disabled because of bugs. It will be re-enabled as soon as said bugs are fixed.

I did miss it. Is gold now basically in one giant gold account or do you still need to transfer it via the warbound system?
You put it in the warbank and can pull it out on any character.

You can deposit gold in your warband bank that all toons in your account have access to
seems eventually we may end up just having account bound gold then. It does get tedious to mail gold between alts sometimes.
But that’s what it is…
No more need to mail gold, just dump it all in the warbank

I hope gold being account wide never happens. I don’t keep all of my money irl in one account and I don’t want to do that in WoW either. Having the warbank allows for all characters to access gold while still allowing for me to keep gold on other characters for specific reasons. It is the best of both worlds.

Only what is put in the warbank will be account wide. You can still keep gold on individual characters.

This person is asking for account wide gold outside of the warbank. I think the warbank is a great alternative because it allows for just what you stated.

It is not really any more account wide than mailing gold between alts was, you still need to go retrieve it to spend it.
I think this (and other incremental changes) is eventually going to lead to elimination of servers.
The entire game is cross realm right now. The only hold out is now work orders and some AH items since mythic is cross realm day one and guilds are now cross realm.
