It's time for Dalaran to finally find a "home" somewhere

I get it; this is MUCH easier said than done. There are boatloads of quests associated with Dalaran, both in Northrend and in the Broken Shore. But I think part of something WoW needs to start working towards, is having a single, CONGRUENT timeline and world.

It’s weird that I’m constantly jumping around and seeing characters that are supposed to be dead. But nothing is more bizarre than Dalaran being quite literally in two places at once.

My solution is thus:

Remove Northrend-Dalaran, and replace it with a small little “Kirin Tor outpost” in Crystalsong Forest. I might even build it upon Windrunner’s Outlook, which sits at the end of the Path of the Titans (north of Dragonblight), overlooking Crystalsong Forest proper. Northrend-Dalaran is a relatively simple location to begin with, in terms of quests associated with the zones, so I think you would do well to simply move those important NPC’s and place them at this new “Kirin Tor outpost”. Or just move them all to the Violet Stand.

In terms of Legion-Dalaran, things are obviously FAR more complicated. I’ll be frank; a very large part of me would like to simply move all of the NPC’s to Suramar, making Suramar into the “Legion capital”.

However, that’s obviously a LOT of extra work, and there are loads of quests IN Dalaran – including two whole Class Halls – so it is what it is.

However, what I MIGHT suggest, is at least sprucing Dalaran up just a tiny little bit. Repair Krasus’ landing, and maybe add ports to the various Class Halls there, that “fit in” better than the others (seriously; what the HELL is going on with the Paladin Class Hall “portals”? they look like cardboard-cutouts of a door, that turn towards the screen)

Also, if I’m being honest? I’d also consider “landing” Dalaran. Maybe just add a small mountain underneath for it to sit upon. The idea that Dalaran would employ mages around the clock to perpetually keep Dalaran suspended in the air makes sense during war-time, but Legion is effectively over, so it should be allowed to look more like a proper city.

Give it a nicer skybox (perhaps just the Northrend one?), and remove the spire of fel-energy erupting from the Tomb of Sargeras, so it at least has a SLIGHTLY nicer view.

Now, there is one last thing:

Acherus, the Ebon Hold.

Much like Dalaran, it too sits in two places at once.

I say, simply delete the Eastern Plaguelands version, and MOVE the Legion version to Northrend. I would have it floating just south of Dragonblight (which is ESPECIALLY fitting, as it would mirror where Arthas first landed in Northrend).

In doing so, I would simply add portals to the Legion zones once you’re running that content.

Obviously, there may be instances where certain lines of dialog don’t line-up anymore, but those are relatively simple to fix should any slip through.

But honestly, I just think these changes are not only totally realistic, but would help make the world feel more “alive”, by having a single, congruent timeline. Chromie may be able to sense us through time, but that nonsense is getting SUPER complicated and wildly unnecessary and overused.

Just my two cents.

Those dalarans are in a time bubble

Dalaran used to be in hillsbrad foothills but I don’t see you getting upset there’s still a purple aura around what used to be dalaran

They are in time bubbles, they are fine wherever they are

I don’t see you getting all angry about outland and the “threats” the burning legion is at hellfire peninsula

I doubt this will ever happen. I won’t say never but they went out of their way in Shadowlands to build a system to make time irrelevant in the game. That is Chromie Time.

Dalaran used to be in Hillsbrad, sure. But it’s not now.

There needs to be SOME kind of illusion of consistency in the game world. Right now, I don’t know whether the Dark Portal is supposed to still be active, or if Draenor still “exists”. Hell, I was under the assumption that Outland had completely disappeared until the Saurfang cinematic with Thrall.

You can’t just have players pretend AN ENTIRE CAPITAL “isn’t there”.

Problem is, there are still players playing those other areas. For example, about a month or so ago I created a new Blood Elf and worked all the way up to 40 in the Eastern Kingdom.

I went through Quel’thalas all the way down to the Swamp of Sorrows doing the old quests. Then I did the Cataclysm quests to get up to 50.

I’d hate to see them take that functionality away.

Please, leave the Dalarans where they are.

First, I mostly replay old content on alts, so I visit them often. Second, if Blizzard were to consolidate them all into one location, the devs would probably be forced by the bean counters to take the easy way out and just eliminate all of the old questlines that are currently associated with Wrath and Legion Dalaran.

Third, as someone previously mentioned, those Dalarans are effectively in “time bubbles” as all old content is. For example, I had Garrosh Hellscream order some Horde alts of mine to Pandaria just last week and oversee my operations in the Twilight Highlands, and that was totally OK.

Yeah, I think that it was a design mistake to use Dalaran again. Now we have two and it doesn’t make sense even in a freaking time bubble. Those are good ideas on how to clean it up. Still … I see a LOT of players in Dalaran when I pass through, it always surprises me but it must be home base to some.

Dalaran’s home is the godd*mn sky. You can’t upgrade from that unless you want a spaceship.

real and true dalaran belongs in the goshd*rn sky fr

Two’s not enough?

Going to be a lot of work not to have 20 years of “We demand or mogs” that were taken out when you removed Dalaran.

Just land it back where it was in the Hillsbrad Foothills area.

And either make it Alliance or keep it Neutral.

Dalaron is one of those places where they gave you a separate Hearthstone. That means you can have your regular hearthstone set for where ever you are questing and use the Dalaron hearthstone to get back to Oribus or for that matter just about anywhere.

Just click the Dalaron stone, run around the corner to the Windrunner area, pop through the portal to Orgrimmar, then through the portal to Oribis. Similar for alliance. Sound like a lot of jumps but it’s pretty quick.

Let’s send it to hover over GM Island. And anyone who jumps off the platform down there gets instant teleported to some really far out of the way place / jail.

:ocean: :dragon: :ocean: :dragon: :ocean: :dragon:

They did that in Cata and people whined.

I don’t think the old dalaran’s needs to be altered unless they do a world update.

I also think the people of dalaran should be playable in a way, like through half elves as a nuatral race

What if, and hear me out, a third Dalaran that fills in the crater and is bigger than the current one but uses the current one as like a town center?

Like during our expedition to the Shadowlands, they just spruced the place up. They could have actual houses again!

I’d rather we get a third Dalaran that floats around all of Azeroth like a Necropolis.

Since we have a portal to Northrend Dalaran in Org/SW, doesn’t that mean Dalaran’s canonically in Northrend? Otherwise wouldn’t we have a Northrend portal that takes us somewhere else? I mean, the Broken Isles portal goes to Azsuna and even the Pandaria portal takes us to Jade Forest, so it’s not like Blizz is making sure that every portal goes to the ‘capital’ for each expansion. And it always seemed weird to me that their destination for Northrend ended up being Dalaran, when it was presumably already established by then that Dalaran had canonically left Northrend.

Dalaran’s home is the open ̶r̶o̶a̶d̶ air. It’s a giant RV.
