Why do cloth classes gets to wear cool transmog that other armor classes can’t?
Not every cloth class player is a female, and not every leather, mail, and plate class wants to wear bulky, masculine armor. I am a simple lady that wants more beautiful leather, mail, and plate dresses, please!
Don’t like the weird gender stuff you brought up, but I’d prefer loosening armor restrictions completely in terms of transmog.

If I am able to equip it, let me transmog it. 
Could you show me an example of a plate dress?
I’ll not rest until we have a gear slot for underwear and we can farm Hogger each week for the special red heart boxers.

I want to wear plate as a Bear, only as a Bear though, in Bear form, covering my big bear butt.
I too would like to wear pretty dresses while slaying my enemies!

I recently bought a ‘Husk of Naraxis’ for a ridiculous sum of gold, and (stupidly) accidently bound it to my plate wearer instead of sending it to my Mail wearer!
Umm, have you SEEN plate on a female? Not all of it is “bulky”.

I changed to this dress to show why everybody should be able to transmog all armor types.
My Main, a Holy Paladin, and my second Main, a Hunter, always wear dresses.
I love the new covenant clothing, and they are obviously popular; every plate wearing BE I see now has on the lovely white dress with the wings from Bastion!
Given some of the blizz store stuff and blizzcon stuff, wooly wendigos and the sprite darters, Why can’t a dk or a warrior wear cloth? I mean if people are allowed to wear out of place stuff like that, why not droppable clothy junk in game.
If some horses can wear dresses ingame, then everyone should be able to wear dresses. 
Out of all the Armor types, only leather that I’m aware of has no generic Leather option. Both Plate and Mail have these options for dresses (for the non-pally and non-shaman classes). Only the cosmetic sets we get in shadowlands offers some form of dress for all armor types.
We should have separate world first titles for those who tank them in a White Wedding Dress.
Yeah, there are not enough options for simple transmogs for roleplay or basic cosmetic appearances that everyone can find desirable. I agree with you entirely. Everything is fairly male centric. One thing they could do is make it so all armor types are available to all your characters once you earn them. Also, creatively if they give people more options to creatively work with, the more diverse and interesting the world will be for Transmoggers.
I think they are slowly moving in the right direction I had already described above. Which is good, but I would like to see all old content become available just like covenant gear did to help address the concerns the OP and others have.
They seriously need to really do much more with transmogs. Some people may have found ways to outfit there characters with something other than a “dressed for war” fashion attire. But, these approaches usually are obscure and not really easily accessible.
I wish they had more events like Trial of Style too. These are great. Not only to show off your creativity, but to also show just how great some people are at mogging. It always gives me ideas of things to try.
I know right…like why bring this stupid stuff into a fantasy game. People got some serious issues these days.

also, I’m wearing this transmog as a joke, but it very clearly shows that skirts that aren’t full length are possible, we should get some more of those too.
