It’s the end of the world of warcraft. Zorvaal wins. The universe is recreated. The last cinematic is an announcement for World of Warcraft 2. Which like overwatch 2 is just an expansion with fancy naming to attract news articles that will have 3-4 year dev time and no new content for WoW in the meantime. Meanwhile WoW2 will result in a bunch of unpopular changes that are dedicated 100% to the small minority elitist playerbase.

You say that but we already know there isn’t going to be an expansion this year as there is not going to be a blizzcon to showcase it. It’s already guaranteed to be the longest gap in between expansions.

Zorvaal is a perfect excuse for a remake/rebranding because he’s literally trying to unmake/remake reality.

Calling the next expansion “World of Warcraft 2” will generate more hype and attention than a new expansion even though it’s only difference is a name.

A new game which the name “world of warcraft 2” implies has a much longer dev time than a new expansion buying them excusable time to make us wait 2-4 years without new content.

Pulling from what they’re doing with overwatch 2 which gives real world precedence they’re going to ignore the majority playerbase and cater to minority playerbase when rebuilding some essential systems in the game which will also artificially delay the release of WoW2.
So call it doomposting all you want. I say raw realism up in here. WoW will die and then be “reborn” into a bigger mess it is. But almost everyone will have quit by then. But blizz already screwed the pooch by saying 9.2 is the last patch and no news on a new expansion.

They stated while there will be no BlizzcOnline event like last year. They stated that they still plan to announce things for their games around this time. Probably next month or possibly March or May.

They’re using this bull 
with Overwatch and I think it’s going to bite them in the butt. Depending on how much that delivers.
Doing it with WoW, only to get a standard expansion would be a dumb move. Not like they can afford anymore bad PR. Also WoW isn’t thriving in terms of profit to be able to pull and afford a stunt like that. Compared to Overwatch which made a butt ton of money within it’s first year or two.
You say that, but me being cynical highly doubt that will happen. Do I want it too? Of course, it’d be the smart tatic.
But keep in mind Overwatch 2, it was announced in 2019, it is upcoming on 3 years since it’s announcement and we’ve barely gotten any gameplay, very few reveals besides once or twice a year. WoW’s on it’s last leg, compared to Overwatch which they took the profit of and essentially shoved the devs back into the closet.
Ditching the semi-thriving live game at the time to work on a sequel, no one asked for. There is no precedent to believe that WoW will be different.
They ignore all players. Only people Blizzard caters to are the shareholders and whatever makes them money.
There is no catering to the majority or minority, doesn’t matter which you dislike or consider yourself a part of.

Well considering 9.2 isn’t even out yet, that shouldn’t be surprising. We likely won’t find out about the new expansion until Summer maybe even Fall. Alpha / Beta probably starting in January of 2023.
That of course, all being dependent on the release date of 9.2
Unprecedented hopeful “realism” that is highly likely not to be the case.
Again, I would love if you were correct. But there is no precedent for it at this moment in time.

the uberleet playerbase deserves tailored content too.
i haven’t kept up with SL story but i just hope they don’t pull a damn One Piece Eneru on us. if you watch One Piece and know who Eneru is you’d understand. basically he gets beat up bad… and runs away. if i am not mistaken they are going to bring him back in a much stronger form. he basically ran away to find his dreams and basically he reminds me of the jailer. just a tyrant that wants to rule the world and pretty much enslave everyone.
This is what Blizzard said. When they announced Overwatch 2 at Blizzcon, Jeff I believe said something like “Blizzard is going to redefine what an iteration of a game in a series is” aka, the #2/3/etc. of a series is not necessarily going to be a full new engine built from the ground up.
Overwatch 2 is literally just Overwatch 1, same engine, cosmetics, progress, accounts, and all, but “Cata-fied”.
It’s already confirmed Overwatch 1 players can play in matches with Overwatch 2 players, but OW2 players can play OW2 specific content with ONLY other OW2 players.
WoW 2 will be like this. Which isn’t a bad thing I guess. No one’s progress is gone nor is all the transmog.

Most of the things that have changed for wow have not been for the elitists like at all. Practically most changes have helped the average and casual player go higher in keys very easily. The raids are easier then past expansions gearing is realistically faster if you do korthia. Pretty much everything they have done recently has been casual friendly. You randomly think they will just switch it really?
