It's okay to not cater to "casuals"

Hmmm no dungeons run this expansion and only one boss from LFR sepulcher…troll detected

Not really. I held out hope for a long time, too.

WoW was always going to die this way. It’s central to many of our lives. I have Horde tattoos. There’s no extracting it wholly from our lives. It’s rooted deep into our existence.

WoW isn’t dead in spirit. The spirit of WoW lives in us and always will.

WoW is dead from a development perspective. The team presiding over it doesn’t like what the game used to be when we fell in love with it. They don’t want to revive that old feeling. They want to take us into an entirely different direction - a direction that moves away from what made World of WarCraft what it was.

I’m not here for it anymore. But I think Moon Guard will be fine. Even 20 years from now, Moon Guard will still be standing strong.

horde tattoos is a strong take, wow

They are. When you ink a video game into your flesh for life, it means something to you.

i would have to agree

Then raiders are the same then should not cater to them so let get rid of raiding

Well you must be playing a different WOW than I am. I’m having a blast leveling Void Elves for DF. And I’m not alone, everywhere I go there are others doing quests.

It’s an mmorpg, as an mmo it can’t compete.

I resubbed to see how it ended in 9.25 and check out the new raid. The story was passable. The 9.2 raid was disappointing IMO. I’ve plenty of gold saved up from BFA and Shadowlands so I can pay for DF with blizzard balance. DF is their chance to redeem themselves in the eyes of the vast majority of they playerbase. If Dragonflight endgame systems / currencies are as gamer unfriendly as Shadowlands it’s an easy decision to move on for good.

That’s an interesting interpretation as the usual comment is actually that people should just engage in the available content. Pretty much the exact opposite of trying to drive them away.

I promised an update somewhere, so here goes.

So, I couldn’t really open my eyes for more than a few minutes at a time yesterday, but I’m recovering well today. I haven’t been able to keep food down due to the dye they injected to see inside my eyes. I did my normal workout this morning and spent the next hour dry-heaving - but things are slowly improving and I seem to be able to see a bit better overall.

I’m scheduled for 6 monthly injections in both eyes going forward from here.

I’m hoping it continues to improve my vision. So far, things are looking up.

If casuals enjoyed the content as offered, in this case the endgame content, they WOULD be doing it already and giving positive feedback instead of vast majority negative feedback.

So what is your point here? People should engage in content they do not enjoy? If I go start a pancake house should I go around and tell people who don’t like pancakes they should be eating pancakes at my pancake house? Would I be wrong or perhaps very much disliked if I badgered and chided people who don’t like pancakes to eat at my pancake house?

Would you start selling tacos and fillet mignon if they kept asking for you to cater to them? No. You’d say I make pancakes, try them, you’ll fall in love.

I’d not make enough money to get out of the red and lose my pancake house because people who don’t like pancakes sure as heck aren’t going to eat pancakes because I say they should like to pancakes. Either I’d have to sell tacos and / or fillet mignon if I wanted to pay my staff or sell the pancake house.

And yet, IHOP survives.

This is beyond my understanding how you can think like this

You realise if the casuals left then half the current already low and dwindling wow player base would leave

Those questers and explorers RP players and crafters would leave

That includes you if your profile is correct no season 4 mythics no raids completed and 1lfr half way

Blizzard needs to release a product that attracts new players and caters to all otherwise just release an expansion of only 1 zone grind your gear and only raid non stop

I know people who do all of those but also raid, PvP, and m+. At some point there’s just a group of people who really don’t want to play the game Blizz wants to make. Trying to to retain them is just going to end up bleeding off people who actually enjoy the game.
