Its Ok. Yes Tier is RNG, but COME ON!

I understand the frustration in not getting tier yet. I truly do. But honestly, The creation catalyst should have been open sooner, I agree as well. But look. We have probably 4-5 months left in this part of the 9.2 patch. Then another 5-6 months of a 9.2.5. We have a long time left to get tier and play the patch. The Catalyst will help smooth out a few wrinkles.

I also have a little trouble believing that there are a lot of people who have been playing for over a month and dont have a single piece. I started playing the patch on March 24th. With my work schedule, I have maybe 2 days a week to play, and a few scattered hours here and there. I did my 8M+, 2LFR wings, 5/11N first week, then did 10/11N the second week. I have not gotten tier in the vault, but I have 2LFR and 1 Normal piece of tier on my main. That is good luck, but I think I had done the same amount of stuff for the 4 weeks prior, then I would have 4 piece.
Now I do think there should have been a little more Bad Luck Protection on their drops? Yes. I think the tokens should have been on their own loot table. So non-tier gear is on its own loot table as well. Similar to Conduits. And once you have that difficulty’s tier piece, it no longer drops. This would crush boosting, and loot selling/trading, but it would also make tier a little easier to get.

But anyway, we got a very long time left in this patch. And depending on your chosen content ladder, tier will come, and you will be fine.

nah buddy, you are out of touch as to how many players get repetition burnout and how quickly they get bored of it

you have some strange assumption that everyone even plays to the end of the patch

nobody is fine if they aren’t having fun i.e. the dopamine payout for time spent is just not working for them because it is dialed too low to artificially stretch it out

the answer is obviously for bliz to ease up on the intentionally low drop rates and the attached grinds that are geared for WAY too much repetition with very little payout for time spent or too much rng so you can just utterly waste far too much free time

just garbage design, tier didn’t have to be so strong and bliz intentionally made it that way to increase the motivation to chase it

this dev team designs with the subtlety of a sledgehammer and does very poorly at balancing the art of fun-vs-grind

thus why 85% of slands players are gone and most feedback is still negative

tier was already done successfully by the founders, but this team reinvents the wheel on almost everything - trying to increase grind without increasing rewards and trying to split rewards into as many smaller parts as possible to spread it across more bloated systems

end result - utterly breaking the dopamine feedback loop for most players. It just feels like too much grinding and rng for too little reward

The most fun part of a patch is the start though.

Diablo 3 seasons are indicative of this. Everyone plays for like 2-3 weeks because getting gear and acquiring power is tons of fun. Then you get close to having all the gear, and everyone quits because D3 doesn’t have much else to offer.

If the first 3 weeks of a patch is ruined for you because you have awful luck and can’t finish your tier set, you might just quit before the creation catalyst even opens.

Anyone who has put in a decent amount of effort into farming their tier should have 4 piece by this point.

I see this as a defense a lot, and can only assume it’s from people for whom gear IS the end game. For many players, however, getting gear only unlocks their end game.

This defense essentially says “stop complaining, you can enjoy your game in a few weeks.”

When the whole point is being geared allows you to enjoy it for longer. This is particularly true for PvPers, for example. Gear isn’t the goal, it’s just a tool to help you achieve your goal.

The entire game is run on burning through people’s dopamine. It has nothing to do with patience. Patience is working on something slow and steady and getting rewarded at the end, like a rep grind. RNG is only there to exploit people’s addictive natures. It’s not there to make the game more fun.

getting gear deters my end game because it makes content easier. Fights are so much better when output is a concern beyond just mechanics.

Haha, no. Just no,

You have a hard time believing? Look at me. Just look.

Yeah I could up my chances by raiding above LFR but don’t have the ability to commit to a raid schedule and supposedly this is a pug unfriendly tier.

Hit ksm early on and would like to try for hero but wouldn’t dream of applying to anything beyond a weekly 15 without tier, so I will have effectively been doing nothing in this game for a month before I get to do what I want to again. It just isn’t necessary.

So take it off.

They’d get burnout just as well even with tier no?

Is that a good thing? There is only so far you can spread out a small amount of content over a long period of time. People thought the last content drought was bad, wait for this one. Wow is going to be a ghost town.

game doesn’t work like that, you can’t recreate the first or second week of the patch.

The first week where you don’t have any new gear yet?

yes, and all those buff/ nerfs that weren’t live yet. You can’t recreate it nor expect a team to do so.

And I’m not.

Making gear attainable at a more predictable rate doesn’t affect that at all.

Yes it does. The faster people gear, faster mechanics/output feel irrelevant.

That’s what harder difficulties are for. Have you cleared mythic yet? We’re several weeks in already.

Why should we have to wait so long to have fun? Why?

Did they announce that 9.2.5 wouldn’t have an ilevel increase associated?

It will have an ilvl increase.
