It's not simply 'turning on' an xp buff

If npcZone == dungeon && npcStatus == hostile && npcLevel <= 70
then

rootImmuneTimer == 30
snareImmuneTimer == 30

I mean, pseudo code aside, there is no way this isn’t a super easy change.

So you’re saying they announced all of this without starting the work on it?

Wow that makes me feel so much better!

You’re talking about 2 different things that have nothing to do with each other. The amount of XP we get from kills/quests IS just a switch that can be flipped. It requires no other mechanic changing what so ever. You can get back to leveling your mage now.
:axe:

Maybe not a physical switch, but it is as easy as pushing a button. Also they are going to turn it off later so it isn’t like it is a permanent compromise for dungeon boosting.

blizz just too lazy

they could have just not announced it until they we’re ready then.

The problem with SoM, at least for me, was that it encourages solo-questing, rather than group dungeon grinding for leveling. I didn’t get past level 16, before I remembered that I don’t like solo-questing, and stopped playing.

What are you trying to say here? They’ve been working on this for many weeks I assume seeing as they announced it awhile ago. People are going off the rough time frame Blizzard themselves set for releasing the buff. It’s not like this is just announced today and people are expecting a 24h turnaround.
Regardless if there is some kind of technical issue with implementing it into TBC Classic, this whole thing was handled pretty poorly.

OP are you even aware of what goes on in the other versions of the game or do you live in a cave?

You are not peppered.

It’s simply miscommunication, and lack there of.

Your logic doesn’t follow because it’s not a permanent buff. It’s a temporary one. if they were going to compensate the fact they’re removing boosting from the game, it would be a permanent buff.

The XP buff is just a marketing tactic to get people to come back and prepare for wrath. It’s not to accommodate players because they’re removing boosting. It would have to be a permanent buff for that to be the reason and it’s not.

Thank you for your first post ever on the forums. And congratulations on hitting level 30.

100% agree. I’m ok with waiting for it but the communication that went out 4 weeks ago created the impression that the buff was coming soon and the other things will follow.

The bit that grinded me a bit was seeing a prior unannounced 50% buff drop in retail, where you don’t need it at all, and yet the one that has been communicated in the past for classic still not arriving.

As noted by other people the language in some of the posts have been altered from “a few weeks” so “several weeks” but I would have appreciated a short post resetting expectation.

I appreciate that the change in itself is probably not complicated but once they implement it they will be managing expectations of pre-patch release dates and full release dates because some people will choose to skip the “at least” part in the announcement that the buff will last “at least 6-8 weeks into the launch”.

My recommendation would be a small succinct update on expected timelines, given that it’s a month since the announcements and moving into the time of heavy expectation.

It’s fine if it’s not ready yet, however no communication for a month is bad, some updates would be nice.

WTS mara SUPER BOOST 450 mob 12 minute pull, 3 slot, can summon

Nobody asked to nerf boosting again blizzard out of touch

You cant sell the lvl 70 boost with people able to do mage boosts with an exp buff. We need to sell the boost then add the exp buff.
