This is probably going to be the least popular opinion…but, here goes nothing…
The changes lately have been awesome. Gearing has never been easier. I’ve been able to get 4 characters above 580 and 2 above 590, and we haven’t even really started the season yet.
It STILL feels clunky and jarring, and honestly unfulfilling. I spend 30 minutes in a delve just to get a duplicate (not the same piece on a higher track; the same.exact.piece). I spend 3 hours in raid killing 6/8 and get a B tier trinket because no one else wanted it. I’ve filled the entire GV with the highest choices I can for the week, and when I open it tomorrow to pick one thing…it’s going to feel disappointing.
If the foundation of an RPG is loot…why does WoW’s loot system feel so bad no matter what they do?!

but you’ll be there to do it, right? and you’ll make sure you have your sub renewed to try again next week, right?
Are you expecting to gear your character in one week?

Actually, no…I won’t. My sub ends today and I’ve tried so many different ways to convince myself it’s worth it to resub. I just can’t do it.
The game is great. They really have turned a corner in a lot of important ways. But, I just can’t get past the fundamental flaw of a gearing system so heavily reliant on RNG. And on top of that, the expectation that somehow gearing a character is the journey.
I get why a lot of older WoW players don’t mind that grind. If they’ve come from anything pre-MoP, they’re used to slogging through levels and heavy gear/power-system progression. Hell, if they’re from Vanilla, they know exactly what it feels like to be only using half of their class for 90% of the game while they level.
I get there’s a certain fantasy appeal to looking forward to the day when you’ll finally unlock the full power of your class…I just can’t do it anymore. The hamster wheel is exhausting.
Crying about loot when you’re only clearing 6 of 8 and mythic plus and mythic raid haven’t even released yet is absolutely wild.

One things for sure. It’s always reassuring to know that while the loot system may be randomized, the forums will always prove to be consistent in their pitiless malcontent. I could say the gearing system is amazing and thirty five trolls would come out of the woodwork to criticize the position and tell me how I’m a blizzard fanboy. I honestly don’t know why I post here…
You expected to tantrum about loot before the best sources are even released and you expected pity?
This is a video game. Put away your tiny violin and go finish normal raid.
At least we can agree on something.

Player entitlement is why.
At least its early still. And not 4months of farming the same trinket on your main to never see it. But your alts first runs gets it. Those are the things in-game that boil my blood
