…its about having a progression path, a way to get stronger, feeling every time you log out you have moved one step forward… that is what the game is lacking right now for “casual” players
for someone who doesnt raid or farm m+ beyond +5 or even just a weekly key the only way to get upgrades is a random chance with the weekly vault, and i mean ONE chance, because “casual” players dont do 4+ runs, dont farm rated pvp, and lfr vault items are 187, which is below the ilvl of the gear you get from the covenant campaign.
the problem is not about entitlement, or why do they need mythic gear to do world quests, ist about content not being rewarding, and not having something to work for
world quests ilvl rewards cap at 194ish right now, covenant set is 197, pvp honor upgrades are 197, so once they get to 195-200ilvl they get stuck and not a single one of the activities they enjoy is worth doing anymore, because they can farm bg`s or world quests all day and they wont gain anything
oh, and when they queue for random bg`s they will get stomped by ppl on 220 gear… so fun
I’m sorry, is there a reason why you cant use the already available gear progression systems? You choosing to refrain from the available content is your problem.
if you check my armory you can see im not speaking for myself, but i`ve been on that side of the fence and my brother has social anxiety, so i know exactly the struggles of people who dont like group content
i started playing wow in bc, and for about 4 years didnt step into a raid or heroic dungeon, and still everytime i logged i had a blast and felt i acomplished something, that doesnt exist anymore
i mean hey +5 is pretty good, means I can get full 207 and and upgrade even the M2 drop stuff up nearly 20 item levels. I am looking forward to the valor system.
I mean, that sucks but it’s not our problem. Quite frankly, if someone doesn’t like group content, the effectively free 197 set you get from covenants is more than effective for any form of solo content in the game.
There aren’t any secrets when it comes to WoWs gameplay and what type of game it is.
People purchase an mmorpg that focuses mainly on group content and then refuse to do that content. Then they come to the forums and complain that they can’t progress without doing group content.
there are literal millions of casual players, from people who just farm herbs to the ones who do tens of m+ 1-9 weekly and just dont want to deal with organized groups and voice coms on +10 and above, or simply dont have the skilll or time to do it
for those people THERE ARE NO OTHER OPTIONS AVAILABLE
Whatever the cap is, there’s always going to be a cap. If world quests were giving out 210 gear instead of 194 gear, then you’d be wearing 210 gear and unable to upgrade past that, so the same situation with different numbers.
For raiders as well, sooner or later we reach a cap where there are no more upgrades until the next tier.
Maybe the issue here is that covenant gear is maxed out too quickly, but otoh I’d expect many casual players don’t want a long grind to get their gear, so how does Blizzard reconcile “casual players don’t want arduous grinds” with “casual players want continual upgrades?”
The further the casual player can get the higher they have to push up harder contents ilvl. a casual player will never get the same reward as someone doing harder content.
If they were smarter and made gear upgrade unlocks a one-time thing, there would be less players who are geared going into randoms to farm honor (so they don’t risk losing rating which would stop them from upgrading).
If they were really smart they wouldn’t gate gear upgrades behind rating of all things in the first place. If it were me designing the system, it’d be 10 wins for 207, 50 wins for 213, 250 wins for 220, and 1000 wins for 226. All in rated. RBGs give x3 win count. And once people get their wins they get unlimited upgrades to that level regardless of their rating.
when it comes to random BGS myself i think anyone who is ilvl 220+ should be put in their own brackets and anyone ilvl 190-200 in there own…just an idea and or just put templates back in to even things out untill blizz finally gives casuals a path to gear up a bit( not talking about getting mythic level gear or even heroic level gear either)… as it is now im at ilvl 200ish and out side of M+ raiding and pvp…non of which i care to do due to toxic try hards i got nothing to do that would feel rewarding or feel like im getting stronger.
as a casual as well ive spoken with my wallet and i hope others will do the same depsite how much we may love to play the game its jsut unrewarding to casuals wh od ont do the 3 things i said on a serious/semi serious level…
The OP is exactly right for the people he is describing. There is no path to progression whether it is aesthetics, ilevel, stats etc…
I don’t understand why there is such selfishness in this game. Is it that people need to show off that they do harder content and have better looking items, which I believe is the case. Why does a Mythic Raider care if someone else is wearing the same item or ilevel? If you are a MythicRaider or RatedPVP’er then you should be able to show with your great skill that a person with the same ilevel or Aesthetic look of gear is not on your level of skill. Does it make you feel powerful that you can stomp someone who has 30 levels less ilevel then you. I thought it was about skill not ilevel?
The truth is…that it is about selfishness, arrogance and egos no matter how much people try to cover it with talk of effort/reward.
Because getting that gear is the entire point of doing the harder content. if they made it easier to get why would anyone bother trying for the hardest content?
