If I’m offering an opinion I say something like “To me it seems …” or “I believe …”.
If I’m confident it’s a fact I just state it as a fact.

I think I am the philosophical type and on the internet I usually take it for granted that when people post, it is their opinion, informed or otherwise.
But yeah, I guess I like fundamental questions that have no easy answers. I also tend to be provocative and the devil’s advocate often, both irl and online.

People will always argue. You can take the same objective facts and come to more than one conclusion based on your minds filter of life experiences and world view. It doesn’t mean that they’re arguing in bad faith, they just see things differently than you. It’s like the old experiment with the picture that could be seen as an old woman or a young girl. I try to base my opinions on objective fact mindful that I may never see it the way someone else does. Or as the old saying goes, “everything is relative except the speed of light.” And citing a source is often just another form of confirmation bias. Just because the source shares your conclusion doesn’t mean they got the interpretation of objective reality right either.
The problem with much of society today…well ONE of the problems, is this idiotic concept of “my truth”.
There is no ‘my truth’. there is Objective fact and subjective opinion.
When one cant tell the difference between the two, one should probably not embarrass themselves by getting into discussions where one or the other are at play
One of these three, depending on situation, and I always separate the fact from the opinion— although, almost no one reads that distinction. But I usually try to give facts. Which apparently can make people mad. No one seems to like being informed anymore.
The most entertaining discourse is the one where it has devolved into sarcastic objectivity lol. Course, you cant get away with that in here. Have to go to twitter/X or Truthsocial for that kind of thing anymore.
normally you offer an opinion that you think is a fact but keep your mind open to being potentially wrong.
sometimes it’s right in your own context and wrong in someone else’s. gets complicated and everyone keeps their own opinion untouched no matter how the discussion went

If it’s an opinion, it’s posted as such and with enough factual information to debunk it, is subject to change.

i sometimes say my 2c but keep it minimum since people like to fight you tooth and claw on here and it gets annoying lol. it’s funny bc i usually say like imo but people act like my word is law lmao its weird.
