It's Mental Health Awareness Month

Oh. No wonder there’s been a trend the past couple of days, where people keep telling others they should seek help for their mental issues, because said person disagrees with them.:woman_facepalming:t4:

Maybe this is me being cynical of society but I feel like we as a society deep down don’t care about each other. We never really think there is a person suffering sure people have it worse and I am thankful for what I have but I struggle with depression and a simple positive thing has a huge impact on me.

Humans are social creatures by default. Its in our programming.

The negative stuff is just really loud.

Players in the game. Dungeons and Raids has affected my mental health so much at times that I have had to take breaks. I am not a top tier player however I tried my hardest to play my class optimally but I struggle sometimes I mess up. I am get upset with myself and feel bad for messing up. Getting trash talked or kicked makes it worse. Hence the fact that now I do very little group content.

I get ya dude. That annoying “What if I’m not actually helpful to the other players? What if I’m making things worse?” invasive thought. I get that all the freaking time lately when I play Monster Hunter. Thankfully you gotta take a few extra steps if you wanna trash talk other Hunters. So its ridiculously rare.

Back when I played Overwatch I had those thoughts. But then I played Mercy and realized I was pretty dang okay as her. Fell out of habit of playing once they changed her Ult tho. That sucked. It was just nice to hear someone on the mic go “Ah crap I’m dead I’m dead- …oh. Thank you!” when I’d zip over and heal them. ( The Hanzo mains I guess were used to being neglected so they were often the nicest folks to heal for me )

This is a GD for wow-related topics, not reddit. Go to reddit where you can talk to a more wider range of people on this subject on subreddits.

You can’t they have realize they need help unless there is a crisis .You can’t force anyone to do anything.

OP,
This is a great reminder. I have met several people in game who were struggling with mental issues. A little kindness goes a long way.

I agree, it doesn’t hurt for WoW players to speak up in their community and help pick each other up.

You’re about as scary as the youtube i just watched ,open your window.

One of my fav things is just when a friend pretty much just goes “Saw this and thought of you”

I basically become that cheetah cub meme. “Thank you. I will never forget this. I would fight for you.”

Thank you for posting on this important subject. It’s important to note the same percentage of those that suffer from depression is a similar percentage of people who identify themselves in another category that garner’s more public attention. Also by extension more help to support them. Mental health support from the general public would go so far in helping these people. We go through hell every step of the way to get better. It’s such a silent disease.

I’m guessing that a mentally challenged person touches at least four people around them. Mental health problems still is a stigmatized issue, and mostly ignored.

People just roll over people who choose not to dungeons and say things like, “how hard could it be? Just run it. Go play another game.” It’s just sad that this subject is so misunderstood. The different types of media don’t help educate the people giving the same time they give to other social issues.

How about we keep RL out of WoW? We come to play wow to ESCAPE real life, not see more of it.

Then main mental health issue right now is gender dysphoria.

My friend RL will seep in no matter what because we are all humans I think it’s better to accept and take it in stride than try to go against the tide

I agree. The trans population is actually incredibly vulnerable and is in need of support groups to help them out.

That person was suggesting a toy to experience mental health in some way…yeah no that’s never ok.

Oh sorry I didn’t see who you were replying to. I agree there. A toy like that would feel like it’s in bad taste.

Only way to do that is to play a single player game. If you play an online game all you can do is disable chat, block or just ignore. Sure many play video games for escapism for all the cesspool life shows down our throats on a daily basis but since it’s an online game of many different people it’s really hard to not see it unless you don’t use chat in-game at all.

You can ignore chat, use addon filters or not hang out in major cities

For me I just have trained my brain to just ignore what is said in chat and mentally filter out things related to the game itself.
