some of the larger streamers out there (2K+ viewers) are saying “no, I am not going to Shadows xpac when it comes out” and that’s not surprising. Even those on friends in classic saying the same. People are no longer interested in retail.

Streamers and Youtubers play WoW for money. I remember Heel vs Babyface saying he was never playing again. He whined, left, came back, whined, left and came back again, left.
They always come back, even the whiniest ones.
Probably because unless you’re a variety streamer, it’s really, really, really hard to drag your audience from one game to another. If you built yourself in one franchise, you’ll get a solid following, but you better really hope the servers don’t go down.
