Multiple times now while leveling alts through Radiant Echoes, if I die during the boss fight and don’t get back to my body in time to rez before the boss dies, I get no rewards for participating in the fight. And I don’t mean that I’m nowhere near my body. Often I’m back at the fight but just need to get a bit closer to my corpse or sometimes wait for the rez timer because I’ve died a couple of times (not looking at you Hakkar).
Maybe this is normal (or intentional) I don’t know. But it’s really demotivating to spend so long fighting the boss, or even a mini-boss (still not looking at you Hakkar), and then get nothing for it because you died.
Should I just not bother rezzing? Will I still get loot if I stay there without releasing until the fight ends?
Hmmm…I just figured drops were random anyway. If you mean the quest reward then, yes, that would be a problem. But even then there are times I just get the currency.
Which is why, whenever I am in a world content situation, its usually prudent to just stay dead and release after the boss/mob dies. Unless you know for sure a release and run back is 100% possible, any doubt you stay put. If you release, you lose the tag.
I’m not sure if we’re guaranteed to get a piece of gear from the boss, but I definitely didn’t get any gear and, more specifically, I didn’t get any currency nor recognition for completing the quest either. Same with mini-bosses, no currency reward if I haven’t rezzed in time.
But like the post above this one said, I’m just not going to release if I think I won’t make it back in time. See if that makes a difference.
[Edit]
So I just died to Hakkar (no surprise there) and this time I didn’t release. Still didn’t get any currency reward for participating. So only solution is try not to die.
I tried leveling up a mage with the event and quickly gave up because of that.
The most annoying example is Hakkar. He always, ALWAYS kills my mage. And if he dies while she is dead, she doesn’t get EXP. And since I can’t control how fast other people kill Hakkar, he usually dies while she is dead running back as fast as she can to resurrect lol
If you are below level 70 and/or way under-geared (which a lot of freshly leveled characters will be), Hakkar has a number of abilities that hit like a truck. Siphon Blood (I think that’s what the beam attack is called), will kill you in a few ticks if you don’t have the debuff from the poison pools. And if that doesn’t kill you, Corrupted Blood will, especially if you have the poison debuff.
This has always been a thing with world bosses of any sort. Generally, if you think the fight may end before you get back to your corpse, it’s best not to rez. I haven’t tried it on these events though.
Lol same. I wasn’t zoomed out enough to see what direction she was facing. She did her fire breath and it took me a moment to realise I was losing a lot of health. And when I tried to run out, I just ran further into it.
For this event, if you die and don’t release, you still don’t get loot / currency / XP / credit either - though Hakkar is the only one I’ve seen that can kill you no matter what you do.
