Big Momma is waiting at the end of the dungeon for you!
i dont remember much about it except the big ol’ princess and the fact that trash blade was a thing back then.
maybe it could be in m+ rotation some day
I remember the first time I saw Earth Song Falls. Still gives me chills remembering my guildies being all “Just wait, it’s right after this segment of cavern” as we were passing through Celebras’ hallway.
Seeing that open sky and hearing the jungle ambient music playing for the first time was nothing short of magical.
I haven’t thought about Maraudon in aaaaaages. I just remember it being really big and besides the Thrash Blade quest I believe I got a pair of skimpy plate pants for my warrior off of the Princess.
That’s exactly why I was there, I need that thigh gap in my transmog.
I’d trade a lot to be able to re-experience Maraudon and Uldaman for the first time all over again. There was a real sense of mystery and exploration that you don’t get in dungeons today, as focused as they are on fight mechanics. I don’t know how you’d ever bring that back, but I miss it.
Unfortunately, people don’t have the attention span for dungeons with dividing paths. I lost that wonder ages ago, all I can handle now is linear hallways that trigger a dopamine rush at the end.
I think people have the attention span, it’s just that WoW doesn’t have the gameplay loop to encourage it, and I’m not sure it can ever add that loop to its present design non-destructively. Some concepts don’t play well with a persistent, massively multiplayer game.
But if they ever figure it out, I’d love it. There are glimmers of it in delves, just like torghast, but they’re not there yet.
FFXIV did the same thing in A Realm Reborn and then once Heavensward dropped the first expansion it went to hallway > boss > hallway > boss > hallway > boss.
Lets see it split into 2 wings for M+ in season 2 TWW.
omw and then drop you off at brd, wc or any sl dungeons.
evil maniacal lauighter
I think Maraudon split into wings for a modern mythic dungeon would kinda suck, since its design depends on the gradual transition of these oppressive caves into something unexpected and surprisingly beautiful after a (relative to old content) tough fight.
There are very few old dungeons revamped into a new dungeon that I think were really good; the winner is probably Scarlet Monastery and there are still some serious tradeoffs.
I am once more petitioning for story mode to be expanded to dungeons, allow us to shuffle more than 5-8 people in them, and maybe clear them of hostile mobs. These dungeon/raid environments need more love than 5 people just running through them and completely ignoring the amazing work done in environmental art assets.
In classic maraudon you may never leave. Or find the entrances.
