Picked up the 13700K/Z690/32GB DDR5 6000 nearly 2 years ago. It’s been serving me well, but I kind of want to go mini-ITX again this time (currently on a HUGE 5000D Airflow).
Might just be the excuse to go back to AMD again with a discounted 7800X3D, since the 9000 series doesn’t seem like it’s much of an uplift. Once the 9000X3D chip launches, the 7800X3D should see some nice price cuts.
What say you, tech bros?
The short and sweet version:
The 7800x3d is probably the best chip at the time of typing this for itx builds. Can easily be cooled by a tiny heatsink like the 47mm thermalright axp90-47 and is the best chip for WoW since it smoothes out your fps dips during certain events.
Long winded version, the 13700k isn’t drastically behind the 7800x3d, especially if you’re able to properly cool it and push your ram speed further. I personally swapped from the 13700k to the 7800x3d in my ITX build because it was a struggle to keep the 13700k cool even with a 240mm aio.
Depending on how much you are looking to spend. The Fractal Terra and FormD T1 builds with 4080super FE/Pro Art are the most common. Since you’re looking to sffpc’s, highly suggest you look for custom cables as well.

Hey man (Sally here),
I just don’t really think performance matters one way or another anymore.
The 7800X3D is of course king of the hill right now, but even with the improvement I doubt it would matter or even really justify the expense. My current system is well above my minimum level of satisfied play so eh…
Moving to a small form factor would be nice, and it’s just kind of fun to mess with new toys.
