I’ve wondered the same thing. There is a pretty big discrepancy between the cinematics and the actual game imo. Maybe they think shorties are too goofy for their super expensive expansion trailer.
If so, they lack imagination.
They managed to portray how serious Gnomes can be in the Battle of Dazaalor intro cut scene so it isnt really an issue but just the lack of will power to represent Gnomes and Goblin kinds in fully 3d rendered cinematic goodness fairly.
