It's 2020 - When will WoW NA and EU merge?

I have friends in EU and NA and I hate having to choose who I want to play with. No other game does this. Players should be able to choose an NA or EU server, regardless of whether they purchased “WoW EU” or “Wow NA”.

Every year I have to purchase the game twice to play with my EU and NA friends.

I understand it’s for legal reasons, but it’s 2020 and the world is incredibly connected. Please just figure it out and merge everything.

Final Fantasy XIV is the 2nd biggest MMO and players can transfer to whichever server they like, regardless of region.

Yelling about it’s current year won’t magically make things change. More to the point, there’s a LOT of things needs to be taken into account. Like who keeps names, how much lag it’ll be to try to link the servers to one another over sea, etc.

What does the year have to do with any of this

I assume it has more to do with latency than anything.

  1. The internet isn’t the same as it was back in 2002 - we are way more connected and should be able to play cross regions.

  2. Have EU servers and NA servers, it wouldn’t be difficult to allow players to choose which server they want to play on.

Then apparently you don’t really understand lol

This is a really good point.

If Blizzard takes ANY of my names because of some ill-advised merge, I will raise all sorts of hell.

Especially since I’ll likely lose more than just one name.

That’s not how the world works.

Eh, they already solved that part with connected realms anyway. If things were merged, everyone would just keep their names with < name-realm-region > instead of just < name-realm >

Latency will be an issue.

I think we should have options to connect to EU though. Not enabled by default.

This is exactly what I meant. Sorry - I should’ve been more clear.

Fair point.

It’s just Blizzard has been known to be… inefficient… with their implementations. Of anything and pretty much everything, really. >.>

You guys already complain about getting into Oceanic instances, EU instances anyone?

Sound so easy, i wonder why it’s not done yet…

From my understanding connecting to the EU is actually far better than OCE because there are more and better undersea cables and better traffic routing.

The only main issue that would affect game play is the same issue OCE and NA face now, ping.

OCE players don’t really care, we have had to deal with high ping for years until game companies started giving us local servers and even now when we group with an NA player it does not faze us.

But oh boy when an NA player groups with us we all admit it’s a bad thing because they tend to complain more and leave groups because of it which actually makes our gaming experience much worse, so we always try to find players from OCE and even list groups noting OCE in the list.

It will be the same for EU and NA, someone is going to crack and decide against grouping with either region due to ping issues and that is not a good thing for players.

What about other people who don’t play from USA or Australia? We aren’t the only 2 countries that play this version of the game.

I keep getting put with players from Ragnaros and Frostmourne, so I should be allowed to meet people from the EU too! That would be great, I could expand my sugar daddy pool.

EU and NA servers could just be excluded from being able to play together, but we should have an option to server transfer between EU and NA servers IMO. Completing secluding the regions from each other as if they’re 2 separate games doesn’t feel like a very modern solution.

Technology has come a long way since 2004.

Wouldn’t mind having the option to play with them on their realms and they on ours.
