Items worth less

I’m wondering if it’s something to do with scaling, or perhaps a stealth gold squish, but I have vendor trash stashed in my banks and a lot of the items have been sharply cut in value. Is this a bug, should I open a ticket, or is this just a ‘screw-you’ from Blizzard?

Why though?

This is exactly it.

lower ilvl = less gold

so a stat squish means there’s less possible gold from activities you used to do. Assuming of course those activities involved gear vendoring

I used to buy stuff from vendors, like a lot of stuff, whole sets from the cata vendor in Org for xmog appearances and I didn’t want to sit there and set items as a favorite so I just threw it into my bank to wait the 2h before I can sell it to the vendor and keep the appearance.

Oh ok. I thought you meant grey items, literal vendor trash.

My guess is ilvl change affected gold price algorithm.

It certainly did, I don’t know if Blizz wanted that but since they haven’t changed it I can only assume they are fine with it.

Old habit, from when my account would periodically enter Starter status and I couldn’t get more than 10g on someone. Zygor autovendored something worth 75g and it was all just gone. Couldn’t buy it back, I didn’t have enough gold. So, when I got something worth 75g or more, I stuck it in the bank for a rainy day. It’s a shock, looking at my pandaren teapot that’s been 100g value for years and now it’s only worth 10g… it’s not like the real world where antiques can get damaged or devalued…
