Items - two small requests

  1. Can you please make the Loot-A-Rang usable by anyone, not just engineers? It’s such a huge quality of life improvement, and it should be available to all. Also, giving engineers something to sell.
  2. Can you please remove the item type restrictions from Diamond Tipped Cane, so bankers from any class can carry it? It’s currently defined as a staff. My gnome rogue who is very distinguished misses his Diamond Tipped Cane.

Simple and reasonable :+1:

Changing an entire weapon’s class so that one handed classes can wield a two handed staff is not simple nor is it reasonable.

Interesting that you say that it’s not simple or reasonable, because before they made a change to the items back in 10.0.5 , my gnome rogue could actually hold the diamond tipped cane.

You said “Changing an entire weapon’s class”. I’m talking about one single item.

You would be changing the class of the weapon for diamond tipped cane.

That’s a HUGE ask and can completely ruin the game if they allow rogues to wield two handed staves

Almost all my characters are engineers for QoL. I used to use loot a rang all the time, but haven’t recently. I need to put it onto a macro.

Hunters have Fetch. There are also some expansion specific loot a range for non engineers, but they don’t work everywhere.

For number 1 it makes sense but why not just have a torghast looting toggle in settings? Then people can just loot mobs by killing them (automatic). I don’t think anyone would be upset by an optional setting to automatically loot mobs you kill, it would be a huge qol as looting just slows people down in retail

Right because that’s what he asked for.

Username checks out.

Or you could use what little imagination you have and find a weapon appropriate for your distinguished rogue instead of falling back on a staff that came out before curves were invented.

Main hand (one handed) Staves do exist in game.

Since it’s a main and and not two hand you can equip offhands while using it. But that doesn’t really solve the issue if your class can’t use staves at all.

The fix would probably be to make the Diamond Tipped Cane an offhand rather than a staff since everyone can use offhand items.

Making it an offhand would introduce other problems…they are held differently…they don’t use weapon swing animations. Visually it would stop being a cane. He’s right in that it’s most likely not a trivial fix. The fact that it was different in 10.0.5 means little because there was a big item system backend refactor in dragonflight.
