Is there a minimum ilvl required for normal? I can’t seem to find answer anywhere…

i’m not sure but i tell you something. if the normal raid drops 430 people will be looking for 435 nibbas to do it

Our guild is saying min of 445…I think that’s too high cuz drops are 445 for first bosses…

just as i said. i don’t know what to say aside from look for other guilds. my guild is quite understandable and they were asking for 430 people to do it.

There is never any limit for normal+ raids, it comes down to skill, communication, and what the leader/group wants.
Keep in mind the truly skilled. like those racing to world first, will likely be doing Mythic with normal ilvl gear at the lowest but more likely some point between normal and heroic for the bulk of their group, in the past, when gear could be funneled, it was even more so cause they would be taking alts in to gear up mains.
My guild has set up Sunday to start looking at normal, and we are requiring a minimum of 430. We have about 10 of us that group up everyday for visions farming and m+ and are all 440+ with some of us breaking 450, but the majority of the guild is fairly casual, gearing mostly in world content and the occasional low key here and there but are wanting to branch out. This is us being accommodating. Over half of us well likely be over geared though, I’m still going to assume that 430 is a reasonable request.

My rule of thumb for stuff like this is take the ilvl dropped from the content you want to do, subtract 15, and that’s what your average should be. Its not an exact science. There are people who can do it well with lower levels and people that struggle with it even at higher levels.
But unless you’re making your own group that’s largely irrelevant. WoW players at large will likely be requiring 475 before they’ll give you a chance to run Normal Ny’alotha with them for a chance at 445.

I usually do that for the first wing, then slowly increase the ilvl for each wing.
So like for normal EP (when it was current) I would say min 400 for 1st wing, 405 for 2nd wing and 410 for 3rd wing. Even though all the bosses dropped 415 gear, they do get slightly harder as you progress (you would hope they do).
Applying that logic, for Ny’alotha normal i would go
1st wing (Wrathion, Maut, Prohpet) = 430
2nd wing (Dark Inquisitor, Hivemind, Shad’har, Drest’agath) = 435
3rd wing (Il’gynoth, Vexiona, Ra-den) = 440
4th wing (Carapace, N’zoth) = 445, maybe 450 for N’zoth himself.
The way I’ve defined the 2nd and 3rd wings are different from what blizzard has defined them, based on the achievements for each wing.

My raid group required 430 item level and we definitely outgeared the first several bosses in Ny’alotha on Normal.
Eternal Palace drops 415 on normal so it makes sense that Ny’alotha would be tuned for 415.
i tanked it at 428 ilvl as a prot warrior with boosted shield/weapon still on and no essence progression
