Maybe I’m missing something but the game is calculating my Item Level incorrectly.
My character sheet is reporting my currently equipped item level as 303 while also saying that my overall Item Level score is 308. I don’t have any gear in my inventory.
The individual Item Levels of the gear I am currently wearing is as such:
300 - Head
312 - Neck
315 - Shoulders
335 - Back
315 - Chest
325 - Wrist
345 - Weapon
335 - Hands
310 - Waist
310 - Legs
335 - Feet
325 - Ring 1
310 - Ring 2
335 - Trinket 1
355 - Trinket 2
The Average value (rounded down) should be 4862 / 15 = 324
What’s going on here? Has the definition of “Average” changed?
I think different slots are weighed differently.
Well Head is going to have to be weighted significantly if that’s the case because I don’t have a single piece of gear other than my helm that’s under 310. So how on earth could the average ilevel value be below 310?
You have a one handed mace, your other slot (off hand) is empty so its value is 0 and your item count is 16 not 15.
The ilvl in your profile is 303 which is correct when you calculate 4862 / 16.

Have you checked your bank and void storage? Items in those locations will still count towards you max ilvl
I have no idea how this system works.
Dear god.
Yeah, in this case a 2h weapon like a Legion artifact weapon would probably be enough to raise the overall a few points since it counts double the 1h weapon he’s got equipped.
ETA: Can resto druids equip an off-hand?
Even though I’ve never had an offhand item for this druid in the 10 years he’s been around, apparently they can. To be honest, I didn’t even notice that the mace was one handed as I didn’t think Druids could equip one handed maces. Is this a new change?
Anyhoo, I bought and equiped a cheap off handed item and now the numbers make sense.

No. I just tried taking off all my 370 and 375 items one at a time, and my overall item level drops from 372 to 349 each time.
You’ve always been able to use one hand maces and off hand items as a druid.
I made up a spreadsheet a while back to keep track of ilvls on different characters. Equal weight to each slot, weapon = 2 slots agreed with the ilvl given in my character window.
