When I was spamming PvP I was doing so many AVs that most times I wasn’t even trying anymore. Alliance AV was so messed up it was like you joined just to lose because everyone would just stack at SHGY and farm rep, so it was like f-it. If you didn’t have friends, it was pointless to get anyone to do anything, but no one was fishing until like later on, prolly around November-ish (2020), maybe Im wrong.
I assume they changed AV now? I don’t know who started it but I know I was one of the first ones who started fishing when I realized the match was already a loss. People would complain when I was the only one at the pool. But I myself learned it from a Paladin from Grobbulus who said the nightfins sold well so I been doing it since then. I was grinding PvP so I didn’t have time to make gold and I was going broke, so every now and then I’d go fish.
Later I noticed more people kept fishing next to me, then later Horde started noticing us, and they’d gank us or even just hang out and fish along. It slowly kept growing, but seems like it became it’s own thing now. Kinda sucks how messed up AV is to where it’s not even PvP anymore, or maybe AV was not meant to be. I’ll have to queue it sometime, sucks that this is what it turned into.
Fishing in AV was decent to prep for AQ gate opening. Now its only for skilling up and rarely fishing up pots. A lot less useful than it was.
