It was fun while it lasted

Not that I’m doubting you, but where did you see this? I’d like to check the details, if any (start time, etc.).

I got to level 15 as a tauren Hunter. I only did one WSG but we destroyed the Alliance, it was good times. Oh, and can’t forget mowing down 100-200 Alliance that tried following Asmon when he kited that dragon. It was so laggy.

Scroll down to see the testing schedule in the link, but here is a copy of the text:

*Classic WoW Testing Schedule
Beginning May 15, select WoW players will be invited to participate in a small-scale, focused closed beta test. Players will also get a chance to help put our servers and technology through their paces in a series of stress tests running from May through July—you can opt in now through Account Management and select the WoW Classic beta. Subsequent stress tests will extend the opportunity to even more players. Level caps will also be in place to ensure we’re emphasizing the “stress” in “stress test”

—we want to push our tech to the limit, and that means a critical mass of players in close proximity.

STRESS TEST SCHEDULE*
Stress Test 1: Wed May 22–Thurs May 23
Stress Test 2: Wed Jun 19– Thurs Jun 20
Stress Test 3: Thurs Jul 18– Fri July 19
Dates of each stress test are subject to change.

I had an amazing experience on the stress test. The first I was able to be a part of. I grouped up with someone and we ended up playing just about 2 hours together and became friends. Solo play was great also. As a rogue, I took on three murlocs, had to potion, bandage and barely walked away alive. When I saw old brill I had to stop and smile, I was home. I planned on playing an undead mage, but after the fun I had as a rogue, I found what class I can’t wait to play in August.

Loved it. It was a great blast from the past, except for the start up area. When I played the original WoW Classic, the starting area was completely hostile. When you ran a timed quest, it meant something, because you didn’t always make it. Dying was part of the game. Still had fun as a Elf Hunter and the thrill of getting my first real pet. The only real problem I had was the game freezing up. It would cause a lot of lag and a couple of times I had to hit the restart button on my PC just to get out of the game. I thought maybe it was me, but I can play my reg WoW game w/o any problems. Can’t wait for the next stress test.

The baby areas were not completely hostile, but there WERE a lot more mobs that were. Someone mentioned that they recalled the Grells in Shadowglen being hostile during Vanilla & I also thought that they were but that person was advised that they were not. I still remember them being so, along with the spiders in the cave (which still are) and the higher level cats. None of the boars were. I didn’t get a chance to play much further than that.

I didn’t get a chance to play in the Human starting area, as I mained Alliance during Vanilla & I think I want to switch sides this time around (I never actually played through the Horde story until after Cata) so that I can get the whole story.

I DID however, start a few trolls during Vanilla as well as an Undead, so I created one of each for the stress test I was able to take part in. Deathknell was not as I remembered at all - mob saturation was VERY low for the skellies & zombies, the skellies were non-agro rather than their original iteration of agro & there were hardly any Scarlet Crusade folks. I DEFINITELY remember those being all over the place in groups of 3 & the named had 2 buddies. There is another named that had to be killed; he was spawned by killing 4 others (one is always up to start the event, then the others spawn after the prior one dies) and ALL of them were agro mobs back then as well. When I left Deathknell & was sent to the farm to gather pumpkins there were barely any farmers there! During Vanilla, you’d have to kill at least a dozen to get the few pumpkins from the one field & then a dozen more to get the few pumpkins from the other field & then you’d have to run around praying for more pumpkins to pop before the farmers did. There were way too many pumpkins too.

As far as the little valley where Orcs & Trolls start, that seemed pretty much like I remembered, except I seem to recall that the scorpions were agro mobs back then. The boars were not, as they are not throughout most of Azeroth.

While I am also hoping for another stress test before launch, I can’t wait for launch!!! I check the forums every day for news - either that there WILL be another stress test date or that the launch date has not changed.
