This is facts. I’ve yet to meet anyone IRL who plays MMOs who says that. Everyone I know either says this about FF14 (which is negative)

As for community LOL. LOL. WoW is one of the most toxic places online. League is nicer than WoW is.

The FF14 hype slowed right down when asmongold stopped playing it lol. Endwalker dropped back in November and I barely heard anything about the game on the internet lol.
FF14 will release another expansion in a year or two. Players will praise it for its epic storytelling. After a few months they’ll close their sub and go play something else. Gamers will praise the almighty yoshi senpai for creating such a marvelous MMO experience that doesn’t require you spend more than a month to play everything.
Rinse, repeat.

The average person thought that FFXIV was going to have expansion launches that were as hype as WoW. People failed to realize that one WoW patch contains more gameplay content than an entire expansion of Final Fantasy. The single 12 boss raid tier you get per expansion is time-gated across three patches. You thought waiting for LFR is bad, imagine waiting more than a year to finally face the final boss of the first and only raid of an expansion.
It’s actually crazy town. People praise FFXIV for not having content. I’ve never seen anything like it before. The copium injector overdrive is insane. They’re basically copium elementals at this point.
It’s such a shame. I really, REALLY love the Final Fantasy IP. I’ve got a box of PS1 / PS2 discs still within a few yards of my desk that contains almost all of the final fantasy games that have come out over the years. The simple and undeniable truth is simply that FFXIV is not as good as WoW. Period.
Half of your bullet points for WoW are solutions for problems they created in the first place (catchup mechanics? valor? Leveling grinds? Lol) and the rest are… “Tanks can actually hold threat”? Is that a problem you’re running in to in FFXIV? Are you turning on your tank stance??
Your beef with FFXIV having a story that’s important to the gameplay means it’s just not the game for you. If your goal in an MMO is to race to max level, burn through content and quit, then yeah. Probably not your game.
It’s also a story experience you do exactly once, unless you’re making new characters on every server for some reason.
I pointed out things they’ve improved over time to make the game more convenient and appealing to the players. Plenty of folks hate it, that’s for sure. If the same changes were made in FFXIV, the player base would universally love it. That’s the groupthink nature of FFXIV’s player base.
FFXIV should not force players into buying a story skip. Even if you do, the players will gladly harass you. Their beloved story is the greatest, right next to Game of Thrones. How dare someone not want to take part in it.
All I’m saying is FFXIV isn’t the holy grounds the players make it out to be. It’s ok to be critical about the flaws in your game.

How many dungeons did this xpan have in WoW? There is no way WoW puts out more content than ffxiv in an expansion. This statement is just false. Even during the pandemic FFXIV managed to put out more content than WoW. The same dungeons with affixes and higher scaling isn’t new content.
Ffxiv has 5 patches of content over an expansion, new dungeons, trials, relic zones, raids 8 and 24 mans x 3, ultimates (1 last xpan, 2 this one coming up) A new deep dungeon coming in 6.3, side content-like island sanctuaries. Also housing in ffxiv does suck but at least it has housing. Glamour in ffxiv isn’t the best but at least we get to dye our gear and get new designs. Sorry, but xmog in WoW is more convenient but not necessarily better.
WoW had 3 raids total, 1 new dungeon, and 2 zones that’s it. Oh and Torghast.

Folk can’t grasp that FFXIV and WoW are different types of MMOs, aimed at different audiences, and that’s okay.
I literally do not care whether you like the story or not. Neither does anybody else. This is some kind of bizarre myth invented on the WoW forums that I’ve seen pretty much no indication of anywhere else lol.
Everyone who plays FFXIV has things they don’t like about it. I think the repeated changes to classes that’ve rendered them boring as all heck to play when scaled down to low levels is a real killer to anyone interested in picking up the game. I don’t like that the housing is essentially a dystopian reflection of the real-life housing market on most decent-sized servers, or that a lot of jobs play fairly samey. I’m unhappy that several jobs have lost a lot of the identity they had in XI. But I enjoy enough about the game to feel like it’s on the upslope, as opposed to WoW, which is clearly sliding downward, and has been for a while. Good evidence of this is reflected in both games’ communities. FFXIV folks like their game and look forward to the future. WoW is a miserable, toxic place full of miserable, toxic people and that’s been going on so long it’s a running joke across pretty much the entire online gamescape.
You don’t get points for making the game ‘more convenient’ when your bone-headed design choices are the reason it’s inconvenient in the first place. Nobody forced Blizzard to put gear behind a 12 hour-a-week grind and irritating RNG. Nobody forced Blizzard to add a new, miserable grind you’d have to repeat on every alt every single patch like Renown, Domination gear or Maw/Korthia currency/rep. It’s nice they removed some of these stupid things, but they’re the ones who added them in the first place. If you spend a month kicking me in the head and then decide out of the good graces of your heart to stop, I don’t need to thank you for it.

Yeah, the hype is clearly dead, especially in World of Warcraft.
Even if this was true it reflects this weird attitude endemic to basically every online and even many not-online games these days that if a game doesn’t have enough to do to fill your every free hour of time with itself, then it’s bad or not worth playing. I find this to honestly be utterly psychotic. The idea of playing through a game, enjoying it, then playing something else is alien to the brain these days it seems.
I never even said much about the game until the WoW people claiming FF14 hype is gone started talking about it.
