All they had to do was keep it like it was in beta and have it reward transmogs. That was it. Attaching legendaries to it meant it could never pose a real challenge and feel rewarding to play.
yep, the “solo only” playerbase really ruined it for everyone. sad!
…reminds me how messed up that legendary system is.
Torghast is like playing Diablo 4 but at -50000% speed. That thing was awful. Slow and boring.
I loved Torghast entirely. I had Twisting Corridors completed on my first toon two days after it went live (stupid work) at a 185 ilvl lol. It was a long journey through each layer, but god it was fun. That was after probably 100 hours of play on beta. I’ve taken every class through all of twisting corridors solo (and then also carried friends).
I will say that I agree that it should have awarded cosmetics only (like the playerbase told them) and not been tied to legendaries (like the playerbase told them) and should have kept the infinite floor mode from beta (like we told them) and never nerfed powers.
I really hope a rogue-like feature comes back in the future for pure challenge/cosmetics. Even if it’s just going back there to expand on it to make it more challenging and provide new forms of cosmetics with new layers/floors. I REALLY enjoyed that mode (both solo and with people!)
The biggest mess up with Torghast was getting rid of it
It had so much potential as an evergreen system if they just listened to feedback and put some resources towards it
Ideally, i’d love to see an update to Torghast, Brawlers, Visions and Proving Grounds. Then give them their own vault row (rewards scale up with how far you get), but make this row be mutually exclusive with the M+ or raid rows so certain people don’t feel “compelled” to do both.
You mean it was wrong that I collected more legendaries than greens?
Nah, we didn’t want progression tied to it either. It’s still some of the greatest solo content I’ve seen in the game but it’s still BS that they tied progression to it, that alone is what made it feel bad for the vast majority of people
I was always of the belief that it should have been off on the side, not tied to Legendries or the main story progression… but then also have it contribute to the Vault. IMHO the Vault should always have some sort of “world” content contribution to it.
Torghast served it’s function just fine.
Not sure what the implication is, here, since beta didn’t give transmogs. Or are you saying they should have kept it like beta and ADDED that it drop transmogs?
Because it did drop transmogs in live. It did NOT in beta.
Never really was a fan. They made them boring once they nerfed Thorgast after a couple weeks because some people couldn’t get the maximum amount of legendary ashes and were posting about it everywhere. I just don’t think you can make interesting content without having some type of challenge. Add to that you couldn’t even mount inside which for me makes island expeditions better just because of that. xd
The problem Shadowlands ran into was that most of its content awarded cosmetics only.
And therefore, most players had zero interest in it. Because players only care about gear that gives them more character power.
Shadowlands had more world content than any previous expansion except arguably Legion (and that’s only if you count ALL the covenant hall stuff). But people kept saying “there’s nothing to do” because most WoW players have no interest in cosmetics or collectibles.
(I will add that the MAIN problem of Shadowlands, though, was the covenant system, which meant you could only SEE a quarter of the game’s content at a time.)
Somehow I doubt you actually mean this. I actually think the lack of Torghast progression in Torghast was its biggest shortcoming, not that legendaries required running it.
The main reason so much soloable content falls away so quickly is because there is no progression within the content itself. It doesn’t matter how much you run Torghast, your character will never become powerful enough to be able to survive beyond the first few layers unless you acquire gear from other places.
Even if Blizzard was dead-set on forcing players to run it for legendary farming, I think it would have been much more warmly received if over the course of the season players could hone their craft in Torghast and work their way up to the max layers without needing to run raid, M+, or rated PVP. But even the most skilled Torghast runners simply would not have enough health to survive the unavoidable damage in those higher layers before they could get god mode Anima powers to be able to survive.
Here to voice my support that torghast should be an ever green feature rewarding cosmetics only.
Because they botched Torghast, my enthusiasm for the Follower Dungeons is starting to wane.
It was the best thing theyd done in a long time. And as a non-raider i didn’t know why everyone was mad.
Still havent forgiven those jerks.
I think the cosmetics just weren’t that good. That’s why nobody cared
Not all.
