It makes me sad

When I think of the numerous camps for WoW; Classic Era, FRESH, SoM2, Classic +, Classic Cata, Retail, ect. I realize that NOBODY will be happy with what we get in the end. There is no BIG project out there, waiting in the wings, because the fan base of the genre all wants very different products. It looks like the BEST we can all hope for is little projects with existing games that are well past their shelf life and have no hope of bringing NEW players in.

Ideally, I would LOVE to see a rework of Star Wars Galaxies, a game inferior to WoW Classic BUT one with far greater potential. A science fiction epic of any flavor would be awesome.

All I ever wanted was just 100% no-changes classic ā€œvanillaā€. Including all bugs.

Most people will be happy with fresh, besides the few who want to keep dumpstering on fresh 60s in r14 or naxx gear.

Actually, your first listed product exists. As long as it does, those who want it are completely happy.

I would be happy with literally any iteration of fresh vanilla server :expressionless:

very few people actually want classic era
vast majority are just using it to scratch an itch while waiting for fresh :expressionless:

Get a job.

Im boggled at the constant ā€˜FRESH’ comments.

What is the draw to restart over and over?

One of the things i hate about retail is exactly that.

I just don’t get it.

you don’t have to play fresh
you can just play your level 60 on era forever

The draw is that many find the game to be much more satisfying, rewarding and immersive when the realm is not a land of plenty.

It’s actually quite fun when everyone is poor and scrounging, without massive gaps in wealth and gear, and we would rather play on an official Blizzard server than resort to pservers as in the past.

The biggest problem with Classic Era WAS (from the launch of TBC) the almost nonexistent player base. It has picked up recently on some server clusters but that could fade away very quickly.

A lot of people love the leveling portion of classic WoW. (many people say that for classic, it’s about the journey, not the destination).

I personally love starting over and leveling up with a bunch of low level people around. I love that nobody has any money, any gear, etc…
It’s great having so many people questing and doing dungeons. Right now, the vast, vast majority of players are already level 60, so why would any of them do Deadmines/Wailing Caverns, etc? Heck, why would you even want them to?

You can make a new character on an existing Era realm for most of that.

I play on Whitemane cluster and there are so many leveling players.

Finding dungeon groups or questing buddies is easy.

The money thing… well, who cares what others have.

release fresh vanilla wow and a lot of players are going to be happy

I’m asking because i’m curious about what makes someone tick that wants that.

But thanks for your input.

I think people enjoy the opportunity to try new classes, new roles in guilds, apply what they’ve learned and seeing what works.
Meeting new players, different stories and adventures. So it’s really never the same.

As to fresh I believe they want a clean slate, making them feel things are fair and balanced for many things such as trade market. Power leveling being gone for awhile. Guilds identity are shaped on server. Creating potentially a name for yourself on that server via PvP or raiding or trolling……You name it, it’s literally fresh…….

With that said you can do everything on era it has the population to do all content. Except for finding your spot will potentially be harder, making a name for yourself harder imo, and the market is full of gold, and some players are full BiS. It’s just different plain and simple.

Of what appears to be a small minority of people playing WoW.

but someone already answered you and you snapped back saying ā€œnah you don’t really need fresh servers for thatā€ :expressionless:

Sadly, private servers offer a more authentic experience.
