It is time to crush the light, and all it's minions

Ah…the Light.
We’re told it’s a unifying force - that it provides strength in community, strength in faith.
But faith in what, dear champion? What are you placing your faith in?
Is it your hope for goodness in the world?
A cause or goal you beleive in?
Perhaps some wretched god, whose will and whismy command your every action.
Fool.
The light is a population of people who have forgotten themselves, who rally to the flag of subservience and conformity. Despite what the Church of Holy Light may try to preach, it has never been a force purely for good - it is only a force that grows with its congregation.
The scarlet crusade still stands today because of their combined faith in a lie. Does that not shake your conviction? The Light answers them as easily as it answers the most kind and humble paladin.
Wretch.
Ignorant oaf.

It blinds you with visions of what could be - of how, in the light, you could help others reach great heights! How you could establish order and justice across your realm!
But whose order?
Whose justice?

Fellow champions…you have been deceived. You think yourselves weak, and so you give yourselves to these masters offering you strength in numbers. What, truly makes them different from the legion? They coddle you, protect you, give you crutches to help you through this harsh world - but you don’t need them. Neither did the Sargerei. You, however, have masters too confidant in their own lies. Sargeras, at least, is honest in his curses of power - the light will betray you when you most need it.

Power, TRUE power…
Comes from the self.

From shadows.
YOU are the agent of your own fate. YOU are the force that drives your life, not the light, not anything else. You are the master of all before you and beyond, should you choose to GRASP IT!
I speak not of the whispers of the old ones, who have lost the true meaning of the way of shadows - for above all…Shadow provides freedom.
Freedom from chains, freedom from judgement, freedom from all of life’s miseries.
All you must do is reach out.

Cast away those that hold you back, heroes. The dulled chains of Light, the hungry grasp of fel, the mercurial glance of nature, the uncaring scoff of the elements, the stoicness of death…cast them all away.
You don’t need anyone else. You never did.
You’re all the power you ever needed.
Take it, and rise.

Reading this is exactly why I don’t want a Light expansion lol

Can we get a plaid expansion? Perhaps a nice Madras or Tartan?

Can’t stomach working with’em?
Neither can I. :face_vomiting:
I tolerated being a paladin up until Argus, but once I saw the Army of the light and read about Turalyon? Heck no.
I’ve got a shadow priest for a reason - they’re nobody’s servants.
If we have an expansion about cosmic forces I’d very much like to go on a Naaru killing crusade.

Awww…you know me so well

YES!

Like listen Nature’s honestly a force I don’t mind but getting it to listen is another thing. :frowning: Have you ever tried having an intellectual conversation with a raptor? I tell ya they just have NO patience.

I admit, I do have a weakness for Yrel. Homegirl can get it.

I was immediately suspicious of those windchimes as soon as they showed up in Shattrath, though. Never trust anything that talks if you can’t see where it keeps its brain.

Surprised hearing this from a monk… I’m still praying to Elune.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA! Good one! Embrace a power that drives the vast majority of its users mad. Sounds like great freedom right there.

If you played the end of BfA then you’ve seen where the shadow leads. Madness, slavery, and death. A horrific vision indeed.

One rogue Naaru doesn’t mean the Light is evil. It just means Blizzard writers can’t deal with the concept of a good power.

That’s a stupid retcon and I refuse to acknowledge it.

Shadow functioned just fine as a dark force before they had to go and Lovecraft it up.

I’ll happy accept that if the Light can go back to its original nature as well.

The Scarlet Crusade?

Sure you wanna crush the Light now, but soon enough you’ll be begging us to save you from the dark windchimes.

The Scarlet Crusade and Sir Zeliek in Naxx made for interesting discussions about who can call on the Light, but the nature of the Light wasn’t at issue. Playing a paladin for awhile in Classic and doing the class quests reminded me of how it was depicted originally.

Blizzard wears it’s blithe and banal nihilism like a frat bastard wears cheap body spray.

Somewhere along the line they got drunk off the idea that “gray” morality = good writing and have been obsessing over that ever since, nevermind it’s neither true nor within the level of writing they’re capable of pulling off.
