If you truly want a necromancer ,you would have to be a soloer because they can’t live or work with the living they are highly dangerous to themselves and others.
I suppose my other big contention that got kind of glossed over with the OP’s post by other people is that I don’t understand why you’d need ranged pet’s; Like for the most part pets simply zoom to the target and go to town and outside of a handful of fights across the game’s history pathing for them isn’t an issue; hell if you look at the spider boss in Vault you can see pets just standing on nothing doing their thing.
Further, we do have ranged pets for the warlock in the form of imps, which a decent demo lock will have a dozen or more of following them around.
As to the spellbreaker: you need to do more then just have buzzwords about how the character looks or what brand of energy drink they consume. you need to be able to flesh out what niche they’re going to fuflil in the game that distinguishes them from the other melee characters in game and no one has really been able to articulate that.
Spellbreakers are way too powerful in the gameplay. They are immune to almost all magic and can destroy lots of magic. I want necromancers to come in as the nercolytes., a way better and much more powerful version of the necromancers with some super cool spells that are not in WoW yet.
Did you not read the word “ranged pets” meaning they fight from a distance not a ghoul doing melee or a bird.
Have you actually been in a party with a demo lock at any point in the last several expansions? Because a sizable chunk of their damage comes from the horde of imps that they summon.
I have I play a lock myself, and imps are more like temporary pets unless you summon an imp who is one ranged pet, all the other ranged pets are temporary, Demo locks do more damage with felguard which is melee.
They’re still a core part of your damage output and temporary or not are still ranged pets.
Beyond that, I still haven’t heard a particularly good reason for why ranged pets need to be a thing in the first place.
Oh you are a class designer? didn’t know you “needed reasons” for cool class ideas that expand the fantasy of the game. A class that is honestly long overdue, either it should be a spec for death knights or a whole new class.
Classes are added based on their distinction not on some arbitrary idea of what someone thinks is cool.
And like I said up thread just today: they explored the possibility of the class when they were developing wrath but it just kept being another warlock in terms of it’s playstyle and mechanics so they repurposed the idea into the DK.
I would say no more classes just for the fact that as soon as these new classes have some cool and unique everyone will whine they dont have and blizz will just make them the same. I would be down for a rogue healing spec, maybe dual wielding needle and thread and we can patch people together, of course we would need be out of combat though.
So tell me what exactly is the distinction between a shadow priest and an affliction warlock aside from the pet? or between all 3 mage specs aside from one doing frost/fire/arcane? or between BM hunter and MM hunter?
Oooo Kul Tiren battle mages
We also need ranged Light based dps spec, and I think Priest would be perfect for it. Turn Holy or Discipline into a dps spec.
Tell me you haven’t played this game without telling me you haven’t played this game.
uh no. These should BOTH fall under the mage class as specs. Literally, no reason why a necromancer range spec should fall under DK.
Dks, hunters, and warlocks ALL have ranged pets.
No, it’s not time.
Diablo 4 comes out soon, go play that.
Hear hear.
If you want people to not just… respond like they’re doing now. You could at least try to justify their existence with some thoughtful ability/talent and specialization to spur more positive conversation and help people conceptualize along with you.
Like this is the biggest problem with these suggestions; people talk about adding classes but none of them think about how they’d actually play or what niche’s they’d fill and as such they just come across as blatently ripping off other classes/specs.
Wish I could do like a “Super Thinking” emote. Cuz uhh… yeah.
The entire reason Evoker exist is because Blizzard wanted to make a dragon class. Nobody asked for Evokers and there was never lore to support Evokers. Blizzard just made em up to have a dragon class for their dragon expansion. Aesthetics absolutely matter and I’d go as far as saying they’re the reason many classes exist in the first place. People didn’t want Demon Hunters per-say for their gameplay, as personally I don’t think the version of Demon Hunters we got matches what people wanted for them back in Vanilla.
Having said that, Blizzard would have to do a Death themed expansion to do Necromancers, and I suspect it will be a long time before we ever visit the Shadowlands again (if ever).
Really? Because I feel like Spellbreakers are pretty well-defined. Shaman tank style tanking (mail armor sword and board) with a focus on evasion, redirecting magic, weaving in spells, etc.
Creating ice barriers for defensive, unleashing waves of arcane to gather threat, and so forth.
