It is as we feared

I actually can’t wait to use the final verdict legendary

They give back the choice to pick but like BFA in shadowlands once again to get better weapons, trinkets and other gear you will be forced to raid or do mythics + again.

I don’t think anyone with a functioning brain thought we were going to get full BiS for PvP by only doing BGs and arenas.

However, having the vendor still greatly improves our ability to gear faster because we can target certain slots now and actually do BGs and stuff. But it’s no secret doing both PvE and PvP will be optimal for gearing in Shadowlands. Right now in BFA it’s just PvE.

I can see most PvP players having a mixture of conquest gear, weekly cache gear from M+, a legendary piece, and a broken trinket/weapon.

agreed

REALLY hoping they stay away from trinkets like drest/bike/harbinger of insatiable will ect basically damage proc or damage on use trinkets

you never see things like razor coral or spyglass ect making pvp feel terrible
if pve trinkets stay in the interesting stat interaction lane and we’re basically just vendor+m+ players i really think pvp gearing will feel good

Don’t worry guys, you’re still 95% as strong as a min/maxer!!! :))))))))))

I dont see a problem with this. Why shouldn’t the guy who does the extra stuff for min maxing not have a slight advantage? That doesn’t win him/her games they shouldn’t win.

Just like Trash is saying here, its trinkets like drest/bike ect that is carrying games.

I honestly don’t know if this is sarcasm or not…

Well I’ll help you out then, it’s not. A minimal lack of stats has never lost me a game I should have won. Now a mythic drest has, hell a heroic drest has won me a few games I had no business winning.

Wod and mop?

That’s the issue tho… it’s not minimal.

The stat value of secondary stats is insane. There is not a single haste/versa cloth item from PvP.

If a crit/versa + mastery/versa stacked Disc priest fought a equvilent item level haste/versa one, the difference in effectiveness is like 40-60%.

Remove all your corruption, and put on nothing but crit/mastery gear on your surv hunter, see how far you get…

Ion’s claim of “95% effectiveness” is only true if it’s 1-2 slots or 1 trinket…

Edit: What do you think the point of vendors are? (To most, it’s to remove as much PvE content as possible)

I’m not sure the diff of having 1-2 pieces of crit vers instead of haste verse is gonna break your gearing tho which is what I think covlol is getting at.

Sure it might be bis but your not gonna lose the game having 200 less haste and 200 more crit imo

Corruptions 100% made this worse with amps but In bfa before there were some key pieces I wanted optimized like rings cuz the stat weights were so heavy for those but basic pieces like boots didn’t need the exact perf stats

i said ideal stats not ideal gear

mop/wod both had the 3 cloak/ring/bracer options that 9/10 seasons had garbage stats on all 3 for several classes which pvp stat / reforging / wod scaling made up for

we dont have a pvp stat and we dont have wod scaling we also dont have physical trinkets to equip

if you care enough right now to do m+ to get haste vers bracers instead of using crit vers pvp cache ones
you’ll be doing m+ for gear in SL

you will also more than likely be getting pve trinkets

with that said, the vendor appears to be the exact same as the cap system now
it’ll likely be the same ilvls as the cap system now (complete garbage) until you upgrade them
but the upgrade system will likely be 50x better than ‘collect 20 caps worth of notes for 1 trophy’

still cr based though probably

meaning low end casual pvpers will sit this xpac out again also

This is a fantastic idea man, I love it

1-2 yes, sure, but it’s not 1-2. Again, using BfA gearing for example. Not a single piece of cloth gear from PvP has haste/versa, only the weps and 1 ring.

5 pieces of actual cloth gear, and 1 ring has no haste versa.

That’s 6 items I have to get from PvE

If trinkets are BiS from PvE, that’s +2

That’s now 8 items I have to get from PvE

If Helm/Shoulders/Chest/Cloak/Neck are not sets or azerite that could be +5 more.

That’s now 13 items I have to get from PvE

13/16 BiS items come from PvE…

You get to target stats!!! Think of the PvErs!!!

Honestly, I don’t believe any system works without either scaling or PvP power. :frowning:

Ah ok I get what ur saying. Tbh I completely forgot there were a few pieces that were bad stats because we had the system in place to make pvp still BiS for pvp. U r right

Don’t use BFA gearing as an example, we all know it’s a crap shoot.

In SL with vendors we can target certain stats on most gear, the op’s video is really only good for showing there is a vendor and freaking people out about an unfinished product with place holders.

I linked another video last week which showed multiple pieces (3 pairs of boots for example) that all had the same stat combo as a place holder.

I mean these are clearly placeholders and if we are caring about min/max only late MoP (grievous and prideful) and WoD had pvp gear was completely best for pvp.

Every single other time (bc-5.2MoP) you required to do some pve to be at maximum potential, but having 3-5% less on your preferred stat isn’t going to be the deciding factor of a loss.

At least you aren’t WW who had a dead stat in the form of Mastery for the first half of it’s life (except 5.2 which was nerfed because of a trinket) and they did just fine.

The only thing that will fail this system is if pve sources top ilvl is only acquired through 2400+ on the pvp side.

I understand it’s Beta, but I also understand it’s Blizzard. They obviously don’t value secondary stats as much as the player base does. They won’t see this as a problem unless it’s fixed.

PvP Sets are a good fix, or like Thugrruption said earlier, having a “base item” you can then enchant.

I would say with his idea, the “Base Item” should be the slot + versa and the only stats you can choose is haste, crit or mastery. This will slightly devalue the ability to “select stats” so PvErs won’t cry.

Every single beta that showed vendors for loot always had placeholders. You really love to cry wolf on things don’t you?

Plenty of classes have vers as their top stat and that probably won’t change moving into slands so that would only create more crying.
