Read the above comments and make sure you try all the solutions. I do that quest on pretty much every alt I level and have never had an issue with it. You need to be on the right harpoon gun and you need to target right at the top center of each building or it will not hit properly. As well, your view distance needs to be good enough for the "fog" to clear out or targeting will not work either.

This crap is still broke. I can only destroy the longhouse. NOT the others. The landing grid won’t appear unless it’s on the lake.

What’s up Blizz? You’ve had 12+ years to fix this.

EDIT: Fixed by setting visibility to 10 instead of 1. Blizz, still fix this quest so lower visibility can still hit

It does work, you were doing it wrong

This was the key for me. I was hitting the sides and base, so it wasn’t acknowledging the hits. Once I hit the top, the riders came out, and I was able to shoot them down.
