Okay, can we finally talk about how badly the game needs a visible neck slot?
It’s such an obvious missed opportunity, if there was a dedicated neck transmog slot, this wouldn’t be an issue. And honestly, players have been asking for visible necklaces, chokers, amulets, and collars for decades. It’s one of the last cosmetic categories that still doesn’t exist, and the art team clearly has the assets and the talent to make it happen.
We’ve got visible belts, tabards, shirts, even customizable backpacks now, why not necklaces? Between plate gorgets, magical talismans, druidic pendants, and all the collar variations we’ve seen on NPCs, the potential is massive.
The Horseman collar issues (See the threads about the trading post headless horseman item) just highlights what players have been saying forever:
It’s time for Blizzard to give us a proper neck slot for transmogs.
I fully appreciate we’ve been adding more neck-style items to the game in the form of scarves, but these would be better suited to a dedicated neck slot, to allow us to combine them with items such as glasses, or any other non-clipping headpiece.
I would rather have a cosmetic face slot so that we could combine hats with some of the new glass or scarf transmogs that we have been getting lately. We also have some things like the bandit masks that could be included
A neck transmog slot could be interesting, but none of the necklace items in game have actual assets, so it would be pretty limited and I think a cosmetic face slot would just have more applicable things. Not to mention a lot of armor sets cover up the neck area.
Honestly, I’d be happy either way. A face slot would be fine, so we can pair our glasses, masks, etc. with other head items.
But we need another slot in the head/neck area, one way or another.
My brainstorming idea is that the necklaces would use the technology to give floppy parts of mogs “Physics” that would let them sway and sit on top of other armor items. But that’s pie in the sky, probably.
I mean, just look at my big neck on this guy. It’s begging for something. A necklace, a tattoo, SOMETHING. LOOK AT THAT REAL ESTATE.
I’d rather have a second cosmetic slot on the legs, like the shirt slot, and be able to layer items. Imagine you could take one of those cool waistcoats or skirts - like the new Azshara skirt - and pair it with leggings of your choice.
Attributing what an individual wants as “[a majority of] players have been asking for this” always feels subversive to me. If such individuals could point to an honest survey (can only vote once) or any objective evidence in support of their claim of “being in the majority for this desired feature,” then such an assertion might have a shred of credibility, instead of coming off like some gas-lit confirmation bias.
Look, they just told the people who have been pining for playable Amani for years to go pound sand and be satisfied with green-painted Darkspear, and you expect them to add 3d necklaces beyond the handful we got in the character customization screen?
I think you underestimate just how lazy this company is.
Thank you for adding that in brackets, but even with the brackets, you’re still basically putting words into his mouth. He’s not claiming majority support in his post.
I’d rather have head (hood/helmet/flowers/etc…) and face (glasses or eyepatch) slots along with being able to specify different gloves for each hand. Never cared about seeing other jewelry.
