Issues with mouse right clicking

It’s been a couple of months now where when I right click to move direction of my character it sometimes doesn’t register. Very rarely it also happens with the left click not clicking on things as well. And it only started about 1 year or so ago. Now I know it’s not my computer as I have other games I play and I have no problem with the mouse. I tried removing and disabling a bunch of programs running in the background. Nothing changed. I tried what was mentioned in these forums of removing the addons and doing a reset of the ui. Same thing keeps happening. I tried another mouse, same problem. I also disabled any of my recording software that I use when I stream on twitch. Same problem. I removed Atlasloot from my addon folder and same problem. I tried pretty much everything I can think of, even the script for the raw mouse options and same problem. Now sometimes it’s not as bad and some days it happens multiple times a day. The only thing that comes to mind that changed in the last year or so is the option for the reduce mouse input lag. I don’t know if that is related or not but the problems started around that time that the option was removed.

Now I’m a computer technician and I have access to different kind of gaming computers at work. I will try with one of those computers and see if I get the same problem (I’m pretty sure that I will) and see if maybe it’s a component in my computer causing the problem. But at the same time maybe Blizzard should be checking out on the mouse input lag option that you guys removed and see if that isn’t the issue that many of us are experiencing. And speaking of which I would like to know why it was removed in the first place?

I’ve had this issues off and on since Legion. It had mostly gone away with Shadowlands, but I’ve barely been able to do anything today because of it. I’m on a different laptop than I was in Legion and have gone through a few different mice. I’ve done a complete reset and even a clean install of the game. No luck so I’m here on the forums again.

I know how this is going to sound… but i am not even lying. I have had this issue for over a year and a half. You will have to consider getting a new PC.

Things I have tried:

  1. Cleared Cache
  2. Uninstalled ALL addons
  3. Reinstalled the game
  4. Changed brands of Mice (maybe it was a software issue)
  5. Reformatted my HD and Reinstalled my Operating System… yes erased my computer CLEAN
  6. Tried enabling and disabling Raw Mouse Inputs in-game.
  7. Tried debugging issue with “/framestack” command in-game
  8. Tried my work laptop (FIXED)

I have noticed that when I change my game resolution to a native res in the settings it seems to get BETTER… does not fully resolve the issue. IE: “Display Mode: Windowed” “Window Size: 1920x1080”

Only thing I found worked was a new computer. Extreme i know. But the game became unplayable. Couldn’t even move my character except for keyboard turning.

Bump, this is a recent two week issue for me. It has been horrible.

started for me yesterday and always happens in instanced content. This is really frustrating and only happens in WoW and only in instanced content. RIP my keys.

Same problem started to happen this week for me, as a tank it is making the game unplayable pressing right click will often not stick and frequently causes my target to change to a random enemy, it is like right click intermittently acts like left click.

Literally the exact same thing happening to me, I thought I was dumb because my target would change randomly, I have to focus the boss and constantly target focus during a fight. Same camera issue as well. Even right clicking in my bag takes a couple tries sometimes.

Just thought I’d bump this thread also so you can ignore it.

List which mouse you are using. It could very well be a specific mouse brand with the issue so Blizzard would need to know what mouse players are experiencing this issue with. I haven’t had this problem unless it was an addon causing said issue and I had to do a full UI reset to resolve it. Disabling addons doesn’t keep their issues from loading.

For the person saying getting a new computer, this is basically a new computer it has been only 1 year and a half I have it, this summer will be 2 years. And I am upgrading the video card once the RTX 3080 arrives. So it’s not that, and I never had any issues until they removed the mouse lag options from the menu. So far right now it seems to have been resolved, at least when it comes to combat. But on the map it still there. I’m trying to right click on the map to zoom out or click on a location to zoom in and see the interior map of the place (like dungeons and raids and covenant sanctum) and it doesn’t register at times. I have to hit right click 3 times to have it register or left click.

As for a complete spec of my system if it will help blizzard.
i9-9900K
Maximus XI Hero (WiFi)
32Gb of ram
1TB 970 Evo plus SSD
2Tb 860 Evo SSD
RTX 2080 (soon upgrading to RTX 3080)
keyboard Cooler Master MK750 mechanical keyboard
mouse logitech G502 Hero

I doubt my PC is having any issue on running the game, I’m usually running above 100FPS. CPU isn’t overclocked since I prefer stability over a few more MHZ. The mouse and keyboard have the option to use WoW profile with macros and such, but I haven’t activated them since I didn’t want to have any issue in the game, since some times these profiles can cause bugs in games. Also I’m using ethernet cable not wifi.

My screen is the Asus VG27AQL1A. I do have HDR active and G-Sync as well, but I highly doubt it that would cause a lag with the mouse in WoW especially since I don’t have that problem in any other games.

As for the addons, I tried removing it. I tried what blizzard posted it in another thread of not just deleting the folder but doing a reset of some sort. And the problem still persist. I will say that removing atlastloot as mentioned by blizzard in another post helped. But didn’t resolve the issue completely. And yes I did do a complete cleanup of my interface folder to make sure that there isn’t any trace of atlasloot in my addon folder. The only addon I’m using now are Elvui, decursive, DBM, Details and Omen3 at the time of having the problems. Lately I added BTWquests, Weakauras and Dejacharacterstats. But as I mentioned I tried a clean WoW installation with no addons and the problem persisted.

Oh forgot to mention. In my first post I said I was going to try with other computers at work and I did. Same problem kept happening. I haven’t tried lately since in my computer it seems to have stopped at least in combat like I mentioned. But still has some issues with map clicking.

uhhh… shot in the dark but when i had a similar issue I used

/console rawMouseEnable 0

and it stopped… I dunno, it might be worth a shot if you are still having click-to-drive issues

I’m still having this issue. I was posting in other threads a few weeks ago, and seemed to find a solution, but it turned out it did not work. Today is the first day I’ve been back in a couple of weeks, and this issue is as bad as it ever was, borderline unplayable. I have to hope at this point, after I upgrade my PC (upgrading MoBo and RAM) it stops. If it doesn’t I won’t keep playing this, and I WANT to keep playing. I have no problem with the sub, content, etc nothing like that, but this is a technical issue with no permanent solution I’ve found so far. It sucks the fun out of the game and is literally angering to try and play through this issue. When this is happening and it’s really having trouble, especially with 3 monitors and the lack of true fullscreen this game got rid of for some reason, it’s unplayable.

Two things. Is it there an option to disable/enable hardware acceleration in the settings? I’m not at home so can’t check, try it if it exists, also have you tried swapping your left/right click in the key binds to see if the issue also occurs using the left mouse button? It will help narrow down your issue.
