I started to encounter this problem where it seems like my Keys are not registering in the game, through my mouse and keyboard even though the spells show available.
Now I am almost certain this is a server issue but would like other opinions first.
Reasons I won’t rule out my hardware
hardware can also just have a problem out of nowhere, and once out of the game I can see no issue with my keyboard clicks or mouse numpad 1-12, however, I am not replicating the same conditions in-game.
I have asked others and no one seems to have my problem or I could be explaining my problem incorrectly
It doesn’t seem to be lag, as when my key’s do not register as being pressed the game is still progressing with what appears no lag, and my spells don’t get queued, when I press my key and look at the icon I am not seeing it light up as being pressed.
Reasons I don’t think it’s a hardware issue
once out of game my key’s work fine
this only started once the server’s had a tremendous load
this also happened last year around the BFA launch
I have a fiber connection
As mentioned I am almost certain it’s server but since no one in my guild had the same problem which I would think they would if this was a server issue and I checked a few discords and no one had this issue, again maybe I am explaining my issue wrong to them.
Go to another Full pop server and make a character and see if the same thing happens. Hard to rule out hardware when you haven’t listed what keyboard/software you’re using. Hard to say if its a server issue if you haven’t specified if you’re using addons or not.
my question is not to fix my problem, it’s to find out if anyone else has experienced this, and unless I create a new level 1 and summon him to Oribos I doubt I will be able to experience the same issue it would need to be a max level character in a max level zoon with many occupying it.
I get this issue all the time. the server thinks spells are still on cooldown when they aren’t. Also need to hit key binds multiple times for the server to register.
Alright thanks I just wanted to confirm if one other person has a similar issue on this realm, I will look into it
I was able to fix it by doing
/console rawMouseEnable 0
fixed the problem I then re-enabled this variable as I don’t like change
/console rawMouseEnable 1
Still working better now
Nevermind once I re-enabled
/console rawMouseEnable 1
the issue came back, I really don’t like changing default settings but I guess I will use it for a bit and remind myself it’s turned off.
Edit
I once again turned it off
/console rawMouseEnable 0
and now the problem is back again not as bad mind you, but still there.
I know you don’t want to think it’s a hardware issue, but I would say it’s highly possible.
I had a very similar issue a few months back. The issue first only happened while playing WoW. Same as you, I assumed it had to be something to do with WoW since WoW only seem to be causing me issues. My keys on my keyboard just weren’t always working. This wasn’t a constant thing, but random and only on occasion. It wasn’t all keys that were not registering. It was random which keys would work and and wouldn’t work. Some keys would even seem to get stuck and my character would be stuck running and the only way I could stop her was to hit the same key again. It was odd and had not ever had the issue before.
As the days went on it got worse and started going beyond WoW. I did tons of troubleshooting and looked up tons of fixes, guides, etc. I tried everything. I even reformatted my pc to see if it was possible a recent update caused a conflict and thought a reformat might be a good thing for my pc anyways.
In the end I decided to buy a new keyboard because absolutely nothing worked. So for me, my issue was actually my keyboard. If you have a spare keyboard, I would advise trying it and seeing if you still have the same issue.
my keyboard is fine my mouse is the issue I have a backup mouse in case of an issue I guess I can break it out and test.
I should also mention the issue does not happen “yet” outside of WoW
If I imagine what you’re saying very hard, I think I can relate to it.
The screen is still moving, but whatever you pressed didn’t register and your toon just stood there.
That’s lag – from you to Blizzard.
Remember, the internet connection goes both ways. Downloading and uploading can be different paths. Just because you download other people’s actions with little lag, doesn’t mean your uploading of your actions don’t lag.
If you participated in the pre-patch event for the 34-slot bag in Icecrown, you probably felt the same thing but in even slower motion. You would see people killing Bronjahm choppily, and you couldn’t cast a single spell.
That’s lag.
Yea I am no stranger to lag from sheer amount of people and that lagg I could visibly see. This lag I cannot see it’s just simply like I am not actually pressing any keys
Here is a video on it I captured

This realm may be screwy sometimes, but i’d say Synapse is the culprit. I used to have a Razer Hex. key word USED TO. I believe the synapse software was doing something similar in Diablo 3. I know its not the answer you wanna hear but maybe it has something to do with Synapse. it’s a shame these issues are still present all these years later.
