Issues I have with Devastation/Evoker talent trees

In no particular order.

  1. 5 separate Talent points to make Hover usable, pretty sure thats a record from all specs. Honestly make disintegrate and living flame castable on the move by default and make hover something else, or just make all or at least most talents baseline, and add extra flavor(hover out of stun, damage reduction, heal, cc like root or stun when we hover etc.)

  2. Iridescence(20% damage on spells of same color as empower spells cast) not proccing not Scintillation(eternity surge proc on disintegration) . One of the very few potential synergies between talents not existing, missed opportunity.

  3. Oppressing roar, cant say ive ever seen anyone use it, first of all, but secondly we dont have the spare talent points to get it anyway. Make a blind or something else, currently not attractive in any way.

  4. Imminent destruction(20% faster empower spells) - blizz will know the % of people using this, id venture to guess 0% have taken it.

  5. Obsidian bulwark - seems really important for PvP, to the point where it should be baseline with something else there.

  6. Landslide/deep breath CD reductions - while these two are cool, not having these talents makes the abilities really bad. In my opinion having both on a 1 min cd, is pretty key, the baseline of 2 minutes and 1.5 minutes seems again, like really poor synergy at a baseline level.

  7. Renewing blaze - should be usable while stunned. Its not a very strong CD as is, even if you spend the extra talent point on it.

  8. Power nexus location - why is it connected to Pyre talent? If i want 6 essence but dont care for Pyre, i should be able to have it, no logic there, i have to waste a talent point to get it.

  9. Honed aggression(5/10% on living flame+azure strike) - we are so strapped for talent points as is, that wasting not 1 but 2 points on living flame and azure strike damage makes no sense, they make such a tiny amount of our overall damage, the talent as is makes no sense to take.

  10. Verdant embrace for Devastation - should heal both the user and the target when used on a target. Its already on a 24 sec cooldown, should be affected by haste imo, but we’re squishy enough as is.

Those are my personal gripes for the moment, im sure others can point out others. Cmon blizz, fix the new toy.

Good feedback. My thoughts are below.

Yeah, idk what’s up with this. It should have 2 charges baseline and a higher base duration so talents aren’t doubling it in every way.

This talent just doubles down on one of the awkward parts of Devastation, which is that everything relies on 30s CDs.

Making Oppressing Roar a 6s disorient CC (similar to paladin’s Blinding Light, but on poly DR) would be huge for us in PvP, actually.

This should be baseline or very early in the tree.

I’m okay with this one, actually. Some healers don’t take it.

Deep Breath CD reduction is another one that should be much more accessible in Devastation’s talent tree. Landslide should be a 1m CD baseline, reduced by 15 by Forger of Mountains.

This would make it significantly less garbage.

This whole area is screwy. 2x Essence Burst talents, mandatory Pyre (as if Pyre is actually the “core” ability of the spec rather than something like Eternity Surge), etc. And why not just make Pyre cost 2 essence, period?

Yeah, wasted talents.

Good suggestion. I’m of the opinion that Dev should get CD reduction on Flame Breath and Eternity Surge via haste as well, which would make the stat much more valuable than it is currently while also vastly improving feel.

Agree with pretty much all of these. I just really wished they gave devastation more defensive options in pvp if they insist on the 25 yard range. moving while casting would be a unique/flavourful fix, but if not something like that, then at least give us time dilation or something.

Raging week in M+.

its about to get twice as strong

No, it’s about to get half as bad.

so the thing with blaze is that it stacks all damage across 8seconds… that includes if you get healed… now its about to be healing you over 4seconds.

Getting hit by something and receiving a single heal will increase the potency of it if you get hit again. Verdant Embrace, Emerald Blossom, Living flame, all heal ontop of it.

I know how the spell works.

This change requires losing the CDR talent and it will continue to be mediocre in PvP modes with dampening.

if you feel it is an issue, go onto the PTR right now and test it out. IF there is an issue after testing (not just assuming on the forums) you can submit a ticket explaining your problems. if it continues to be a problem, you can hope that more people submit the same ticket and its not just you.

Good day

Just like all the feedback Devastation got in Beta.

I run it, especially in high keys like this week for AoE Soothe it’s a godsend it’s insanely good, but out of enrage week I never pick it. But this week every Evoker, Regardless of spec doing keys will use it.

They should just rework the talents, although I love the disorient ideas but what they should do is combine Oppressing Roar with Overawe, that should be one Talent and Overawe should add a 3 second Disorientate.

You are literally sending a ear bursting roar at close range, it should make them tremble in place.

This way PvE still get use when that rare niche enrage week comes by, but when it’s not up you still get a solid CC on a 2 min cd. Useable in all content be great in PvP, making both Talents attractive and worth a 2 point investment.

Yes that needs fixing

Also needs fixing

Literally the most valuable thing come raging weeks in keys, We are the most wanted class by far with Raging weeks and there absolutely is ways to get that without losing too much to be a huge issue.

It has value when you are low haste, Most people have at-least 20-25% haste now.

Game is balanced around PVE primarily and that is a talent everyone takes anyway

It’s called picking and choosing, You can’t have everything, Many raid builds take it, Many M+ builds do not.

everyone has one of these in one form or another it’s a filler talent, Not everything on the tree has to be worth it.

The problem is we did all asked to the devs ours talent for devas make no sense during the beta but they didn’t listen as always
