Isn't S1 going to be over by the time the ring gets good?

Blizz said their goal was to “make the ring a clear choice for the remainder of Season 1”, but since the gems are timegated and the ilvl upgrade is per week. People speculate the ring won’t be decent until week 4 or 5 so we have about another month or so before the ring is actually useful. S2 is suppose to be late Jan or Feb, so in other words the ring will be strong at the butt end of S1.

Yeah, pretty much. And if it’s anything like the annulet it’ll be replaced for the majority of people early in Season 2.

I didn’t read the whole thing, but did they mention that they’re timegating the Citrines and the ones you get on launch are absolute poo poo, thus making the ring poo poo for several weeks?

yes. I take it you werent around during dragon flight? we had the same “patch” during dragonflight and the new zone was called the forbidden reach. You flew there, unlocked the ring through questing, and then you had to grind for the stones. They were NOT best in slot rings right when the patch launched. Mainly because we dont know what all stones are available yet. But by season 2, the ring should be best in slot for most classes.

Maybe they’ll continue to buff it next season. It might be relevant to the new raid, after all.

No I was there for that. But I remember the ring actually being useful in the first week

We were limited to how much we could farm the gems based upon how many vault keys we got. It’s the same thing to most of us, it was the sweaty no-lifers who grinded it out for a full set day 1. The more casual player base, the one this stuff is mostly aimed at did it when they could get on. Most of them didn’t get full gems until a couple of weeks later.

i remember the ring being trash for awhile. Because like someone else said, we were time gated behind how many vault keys we had, AND, at first nobody knew how many stones there were and it took awhile for simming to find the right combination.

It will be max power for two weeks or so before next season. How long it will be bis for players? TBD

Once all of the gems are available, the ring will be BiS. That should be in 2 weeks.

Won’t need the last week for it to be viable. I’ll probably be an upgrade in a coupla weeks and then get better from there.

I’ve swapped to it since I’m in old content mode anyway.

Unless they buff it substantially it’s probably not gonna be really good period.
It’s apparently performing worse at 642 than other basic stat rings at like 587 or 590.

That’s only because of the gems available. When the good gems are released it will be BiS.

Just a terrible implementation.

Here’s hoping, saves me a crafted slot.

I mean most people are done with the season anyway, and only people who would benefit from the ring are high key pushers

Isn’t S1 going to be over by the time the ring gets good?

yes. it’s a really stupid design.

Blizz has stated that their intent is for the ring to be competitive with Season 2 Hero track rings, so most people will probably be using it for all of Season 2.

Its going to be bis at the very end of the season. It will likely be replaced the first week of s2 if you are clearing heroic the first week like most people who are concerned with this ring are going to

i have only run two low level m+ with the ring as BDK.

my ilevel is 610 with 606 rings. the siren ring is 642.

my stats seem to give up 2% mastery in favor of 2% crit.

the thundering did ~4% of my damage but the healing gem did a lot of healing to the party and not very much to me.

I do pick up ~400,000hp. for a tank, especially a BDK, that seems decent.

again, I am only running+3s at the moment and my gear isn’t high. it seems like a tossup for this toon.

you got to get good to go get great for goodness sake,
