Hey ive been running Island expeditions on every difficulty and im just wondering sombody could help me with either, the difficulty required to get the mount, and if the map matters, any info would be loved x
As what you’re asking for is a game hint, it is likely you will find very little by way of specific information from players, and none at all from the SFAs.

Mounts, as with all loot in Island Expeditions, are tied to a specific mob type appearing somewhere on the island in question. For this mount, people have surmised that Storm Drakes are the key. So far, I’ve only spotted them on Jurundall - which probably means they are an island specific mob, however the new islands after 8.1 seem to spawn a lot of old mobs that used to be island specific (like the Kindleweb Spider) all over the place, so you could potentially see them elsewhere.
Loot chance will go up with difficulty, but don’t expect a significant enough increase if a higher level island takes much longer than a lower (I personally find heroics to be a happy medium. Mythics simply take too long to clear, but I’ll be testing these again once season 2 gets underway and everyone is rolling in 415+ pieces)
With 8.1, it doesn’t matter what you kill - so long as a thing appeared on the island, you have a chance of looting something from that thing.
My recommendation to you, if you only want this mount - is to farm Islands on the weeks Jorundall is in rotation (don’t skip out on the other 2 if you get them, as deserter & dungeon timer takes longer than the islands themselves).
But don’t get -too- attached to the idea of obtaining it. Despite what the wowhead comments might lead you to believe, mounts are extraordinarily rare. I’ve run quite a few islands (enough to have the dubloons to purchase every reward from the vendor the day it was released), and I’ve only seen 5 mounts total drop in islands I’ve been a part of. And none of them went to me.

Sorry bud, but at this point its still in the dark. I got an Island Thunderscale on my first island expedition the day 8.1 released. Not to discourage you, but i still have not seen anybody else with the thunderscale, neither has my guildmates or coworkers who play different realms. These mounts are considered to be extremely rare. I received mine on the “normal” difficulty, However, I do not recall which expedition map. Good luck buddy.
Somewhat like you I wanted the parrot mount from Islands. Farmed heavily since day 1. thousand + so far only 1 mount the jellyfish. Got almost all the pets guild tabs full with mogs and seagull mount.

I got it on normal. That being said, I have a 40 neck so idk how many I ran.
Dropped tonight on dentarg/heroic from storm drake. I’ve only ran about 7.
