Island Expeditions

Currenly it’s either “Run the Mythic you don’t want/need for 10 dubloons (Or if you’re lucky, 15!!)” or leave and rejoin a solo instance over and over until you get the island you do need.

Just let us target one of the three islands that week. Please. It would be less terrible if Nightrunner sold all of the lootbags that are available that week instead of randomly picked four bags. It’s a complete waste of time otherwise unless you LIKE to sit there for hours farming a handful of dubloons a run and hoping for Jorundall to show up. (And further hope for the drakes to be on the island and then even further hope that killing every drake might lead to getting the mount you’ve been farming since BFA.)

I don’t want to see Havenwood or Snowblossom. I just want Jorundall. I’m going insane here.

People farming Invincible since WotLK: “First time?”

Don’t even get me started on that beast.

So you want them to change it completely just so you can farm it more easily than when it was current content? Why on earth would they do that?

Tusks-sayswut?

Because it was a TERRIBLE system when it was implemented, change was asked for the moment it was in BETA, and terrible things should be changed. It doesn’t matter WHEN. The fact it would be embarrassingly after the fact doesn’t change the larger issue that you are righting a wrong.

You are also playing on the fallacy that people seem to think “because I suffered, you should suffer too.” Sane people don’t think that way. While they may have suffered through some horrible experience, the idea of “esprit de corps” fails when people are given the chance to simply make something better. Yes, people will bond over their shared suffering-- they will also bond over knowing they made the world a better place.

How IE’s work is a FAILURE in design. Blizzard should take every opportunity to FIX that failure. That opportunity should have been enacted in the BETA for BfA! But if they wait until the end of SL? It would still be FIXING something that’s BROKEN.

Hear me out.

Gather dubloons in the weeks he doesn’t have what you want. Buy the crates when they’re available.

The drop rate on the actual islands is horrific, the crates are much better.

But hey, at least you’re not me, who ran ~1,000 islands to target specific pets before they changed how loot is generated/distributed in Island Expeditions, and by the time they fixed it, you were burnt out from chasing that stupid murloc.

I never claimed to be sane; after all, I play this terrible game and believe the suffering is part of the experience at this point.

I do see exactly what you are saying though and am sympathetic to your cause. That being said, there are so many different things that are broken and create suffering in this game right now, I’d prefer they focus forward into the core aspects of the game to make it better instead of trying to fix IE.

BUT, they have made fixes with IE previously so I wouldn’t be surprised if they DID make changes in the future!

As a side note, you don’t have to kill any of the drakes to qualify for the chance for the mount to drop. When I got mine, I didn’t even realize there were drakes on the island so I didn’t kill a single one.

If you cry loud enough I can guarantee you they’ll change it for you(and everyone else you’ve managed to convert). Never give up. It’s when you go silent things will never change.

eh… it’s not “crying.” When something is broken and you point it out with an intelligent argument supported by facts, it’s not “crying” or “whining.”

I still stand by my suggestion for how rare drops should work:

Every rare item should drop a coin or token of some kind. After you collect 100 of these items, you can just buy the drop. This sets everything at a 1% drop rate.

After you’re run something 100 times… you’ve earned it.

Things that take more than 100 runs aren’t adding ANYTHING to the game. The idea of “prestige” items is a myth. How many of you farmed forever for some-whatever item, you FINALLY got it … and then you NEVER USE IT.

Nothing should have a lower-than-1% drop rate. It’s bad for the game.

I didn’t mean it as a negative thing, but a good thing. The second you stop doing it nothing will happen. As long you and others keep drawing attention to the problem maybe one day blizzard might actually test their own content to see that it’s indeed not great and fixes it.

People still run islands?

Try tusk farming. Been doin that since mists on 6-9 plate wearers and still no luck

Now that I don’t have to interact with other people to do it? Absolutely?

I never cared about Azerite but those suckers are packed full of cosmetics. And I mean FULL.

That’s what I’ve been doing, but it’s been like a month without Jorundall crates-- hence the mild frustration here.

Also, honestly-- I could get the mount today and still want them to change it so that you could target what island you visit for people who come after me. It would be a positive change.

OK, that’s fine. But words have meaning. And in this context, “crying” and “whining” are pejoratives.

If you’re trying to encourage someone, that’s not how to do it.

Not disagreeing. Just offering an option for you.

If it makes you feel better, those 1000+ islands I did way back then only got me like 300 Dubloons cause blizzard il wants to make things as grindy as possible then plays surprised when people quit over it lol

They mega buffed the drop rate after I was done lol
