Island Expeditions in Dragonflight

I’ve been doing some farming recently on BFA’s island expeditions. I think their theme fits for Dragonflight (exploration, etc), and could be great if they were not tier to any type of player power - just cosmetics. Its certainly more chill than doing Torghast - the scenery, music… Too bad it had a bad reception due the “rush rush” mindset on BFA, mainly becuse of the azerite power creep.

It feels like a lot of potential was discarded. Imagine a world revamp with lots of places to explore. How does everyone feels about the island expeditions? Would you be willing to see them return maybe in another expansion or patch?

I would rather Mop scenarios.

Sorry but… what?

BfA didn’t have a “rush rush” mindset. ISLAND EXPEDITIONS had a rush rush mindset because they were DESIGNED THAT WAY. If you don’t beat the AI to the max score - you lose

Meanwhile in Torghast you can just /afk.

Solid NO to island expeditions, and as a collector, I never want to go through that hell again, especially if it’s “just cosmetics”.

I dont mind there being varied content for people that enjoy different things.

But yeah. Island expeditions were not some super chill exploration event.

Farming them solo should be a lot less tedious in DF.

Note that I consider ‘tedious’ anything that doesn’t die with a mean look.

They should be a set of mini dungeons.

Keep the same island expedition system, but update it with new maps with each expansion (even though I know this won’t happen - WoW has always been dead-set against evergreen content that aren’t battleground maps).

Island Expeditions were terrible. But MoP scenarios were fun and had story.

To you perhaps, which is fine. My friends and I enjoyed the heck out of them.

The nice thing is you can simply not do stuff you don’t like.

Almost like the OP didn’t even do them.

That is fine, as well.

This does not work when they put things in as rewards that people desire.

Perhaps we should ask for both? I know that it will not happen, but I do enjoy compromise and do not wish to dismiss how you feel.

I guess the issue then is FOMO?

I mean, there’s a ton of mythic tier mog sets I would have loved to get, but I hate raiding - so I don’t raid, and life goes on.

Not trying to come across as snarky here either btw. I get the desire to want to complete collections or whatever. A good compromise might be less character-bound items; let people buy stuff they don’t want to farm up.

I would not say that is FOMO. Everything is still available.

Unlock transmog and then it will not be as frustrating for people?

I’d rather do neither.

Soooooooooooooooooooooo boring.

The only reason I did MoP scenarios was easy valor on alts
The only reason I did Islands was to level alts

Yeah, my main didn’t care for these boring grindy things

I do not see how scenarios were “grindy.”

Why would Blizzard ever want to bring back something people enjoy?

torghast was the easiest thing to do in this game, and a lot quicker and less annoying than Isles

Island Expeditions have more potential than Torghast ever had.

If they were more random and redesigned to not revolve around azerite, could be a really fun thing to do when bored.

I’d actually like it to be something like the Midnight Isles in the latest Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous DLC. Somewhat roguelike in that you go fdom island to island, picking which island you go to next, with each island being semi-fixed, semi-procedurally generated, with unique bosses and enemies on each island as you go.

I would rather blizz make them into an archipelago. Turn them all into timeless isle style. Treasures, quests, puzzles as well as lore. Let us sail between them on boat mounts. Could be fun!
