So between 3 toons I have done 48 Island Expeditions, all Mythic, and still not one Mount. Think I got all the pets or most of them. But not one mount.
Just band RNG for me or is there some qualifier/trick on what bosses to kill in each instance to increase drop chance of a mount?
No. It’s just RNG. I think the mobs present on the island effect what rewards are possible to get, but aside from that it’s just RNG. Don’t have to do or kill any specific things.
Mounts have a low chance to drop from the expeditions themselves, considering the qualifications themselves are up for the mount to drop in the first place. Farming doubloons and buying the chests seems to be the way to go, maybe you’ll get lucky and a mount will drops while doing so.
I’ve farmed island expeditions for like 4 or 5 months. I’m yet to get a mount but I’ve gotten tons of nice transmog and pets. My first box I bought from the vendor dropped a mount and so did the third one so in my opinion you’re better off just buying the different boxes with doubloons.

Use the currency you get to purchase the lock boxes. They have a fairly good mount drop chance.
As a hardcore collector, I would say most things in WoW are at the 1% droprate.
So at just 48 runs, it wouldn’t be unusual at all to have zero drops. At 300, yeah something is wrong.
I don’t know for sure what the droprates are for IE, but I don’t recall any of them being less than 1%. As was said, the real challenge is that certain things about IE will only happen on certain Islands/certain conditions. But once those conditions are met, your chance at getting something is 1%.
The mount drop chance from an actual island run is very low. I got about 2 or 3 during BfA before they introduced the boxes. Then I just spammed the boxes for the rest since the mount drop chance from them is like 50%.

Can the same mount drop more than once from one? Like if I already have it. Or does it “re-roll” if you already have?
Well i have all mounts from islands … and i never done mythics… its not the difficulty , its the rares you kill that spawn on the island that gives the mounts
Wait, are you telling me the drop rate of Mounts is the same on normal as it is Mythic?
I don’t know if anyone ever managed to gather enough data to be sure. But mythics will give you more doubloons don’t they? So if you can do them efficiently, they are almost certainly the way to go (now)
