It says he is a forest troll, so does that mean he isn’t a darkspear? Just curious.
Where does it say forest? He’d be a jungle troll.
Pardon my ignorance on this particular subject but…aren’t Darkspear kind of forest-ish trolls as in, oposite to , say, desert trolls? …
Forest trolls are bigger and green where jungle trolls, sometimes called island trolls (which include darkspear) are thinner and blue.
Zul’Aman is the forest troll capital. Zul’Gurub is capital for jungle trolls. Just to give some in game references
Sand/desert trolls (based in Zul’Farak) are decendants of jungle trolls and have the same slender build but are sand colored.
Ice Trolls (in Zul’Drak) are a more icy blue (as opposed to the greenish and purplish blues of jungle trolls) and are an offshoot of forest trolls so they have the bulkier build
Zandalari are the progenitors of all other tribes. and are an inbetween as far as size and build.
Blood trolls we dont know much about their heritage but are most likely related to jungle trolls based on build.
Shadow Trolls are the rarest of all troll races and include the tribes that eventually became the Night elves. They have a slender build and a dark purple coloring. They have no capital and are currently believed to be mostly (or even completely) wiped out.
EDIT: also as far as the OP’s question he’s definitely a Darkspear (thus jungle troll) and if he’s tagged as a forest troll anywhere it’s definitely a typo
Dark trolls are mostly an enigma. The only dark troll in the game is the last of the Shadowtooth and uses normal jungle troll coloration, but we have concept art of them from scrapped Cata content. Who knows if either are indicative of canon.

Troll fact: the coloration of trolls comes from a thin layer of fur! Jungle trolls have blue fungus growing in their fur, forest trolls have moss growing in theirs, and sand trolls have sand in theirs. To unsubscribe from Troll Facts…
He said in the first cinematic that his Father fought with Saurfang in the third War.
Third war was the events of Warcraft 3 +Frozen Throne… That would mean Saurfang fought with Thrall to free orcs from the Internment camps, and flee to Kalimdor to then fight the Burning Legion/Scourge and build Orgrimmar.
The only Trolls who fought with Thrall during those campaigns were the Darkspear.
Oh sorry to me forest/jungle is kind of the same thing but I stand corrected
Darkspears are Jungle Trolls. Darkspear is their tribe.
Zekhan is a Darkspear, as he said his father fought in the Third War-- And it was the Darkspear Trolls in that war alongside the Horde.

How dare you slander Night Elves like this!
Actually the Shadowtooth clan are still around with one member remaining.
He did say that they were mostly wiped out, with the addition that they may be completely wiped out (hence the or in brackets). Mostly does not equal all.
So he is still correct.
Well Night Elves are mutated Dark Trolls so dey be still around ![]()
definitely not fake new since it’s in chronicles. There was a group that lived around the Well of Eternity and were transformed by its energies and began worshiping Elune.
Yeah but the dark troll speaker in Dazar’alor pretty much says she’s the last one. The uneventful off screen death of an entire tribe and possibly an entire subspecies of trolls seems like a huge waste of potentially cool lore and faction IMO.
One of my secret hopes is that Blizz brings them or some other unknown tribe into the story despite the current lore. I hate to see even minor characters or groups from wc3 die off, especially when they never got a real chance to be a part of WoW. I know it’s unlikely at this point, but weirder “comebacks” have happened.
They were supposed to appear in Cata as part of Mt. Hyjal, but since they were scrapped, they were systematically exterminated by the Twilight’s Hammer instead.
Yeah I just wish they wouldve saved them for something else. That’s kinda what they were planning… ish. The explanation back in cata was left somewhat open ended
Brann Bronzebeard believes that they were wiped out by the Twilight’s Hammer, but he hasn’t had a chance to check their caves yet.
Sad that after all that time they decided to just have a lone survivor confirmed that’s what happened
Aw, I saw that Tyrande and the night elves actually fight and kill the other dark trolls too. :c
The Shadowtooth Tribe is extinct aside from the Speaker and her tribe resembles some of the Shatterspear Trolls(the rest look like Jungle Trolls).
The Shatterspear Tribe consists of Jungle Trolls, Forest Trolls and Dark Trolls it would seem.
