I don’t understand what is going on here. I thought there was not going to be any transmog in classic. So what is the point?

When someone decides they’re in :heart: WUV :kissing_heart: with a fictional character, and think of it like their wanna-be wife/husband. The origin is anime / manga, but on the more obsessive side with the sort who write fan-fics and ship characters (decide two fictional characters are in a relationship with each other).

My character will represent me, in the form of a gnome. My waifus are reserved for retail, thank you very much. Better graphics, you understand.

What’s a “ship character” I’ve tried writing about characters in relationships before but I’ve never encountered this, I’m genuinely curious. *loud whisper “I don’t write relationships very well.”

Ship is used as a verb, shortened from relationship. To ship characters is to decide they might make an interesting couple, sometimes writing the fanfic to make that happen.

Some people used to make a big thing about Anduin and Wrathion, that they should be a couple. That’s called shipping them.

Usually they aren’t your own characters. Sometimes it can even be real people, like celebrities. K-Pop stars get a lot of that, sometimes having names for the various ships that are combinations of their names. (For an American comparison, think Brangelina, though that was a real relationship rather than a fan-inspired fiction.)

Ahh, alright. I do enjoy anime. Or maybe the dubbed? versions of it. I was first introduced to it in the early 2k maybe? It was When Adult Swim had the Saturday night anime stuff going on. But I watched some stuff even before then. Ghost in the shell is still a personal favorite.
As for other such things as memes and vines. And even the new urban language. I am just completely lost. :roll_eyes:

Ah, asian culture is so mysterious to me, like Japan with their mad negative birth rate because both sexes would rather overwork and pay (often underage) prostitutes, basically. And the women do it as much as the men. That’s the downfall of a society right there. Thanks for explaining the shipping thing, had no idea.
