Is Yogg Saron truly dead?

Ol’ Yoggy called himself The God of Death. Who does Sylvanas serve now? “Death”. She also set out to destroy “hope”. Yogg-Saron, Hope’s End is a legendary card in Hearthstone. But we defeated him, you say? Can a Death God die?

" He will learn. No king rules forever! Only Death is eternal!"-Yogg-Saron

During The Diamond King quest back in Legion saronite vapor and faceless ones were present in Ulduar, along with the Death God’s whispers. The Black Blood of Yogg-Saron was mined by the Scourge and used to make everything they used. Saronite was also how Sylvanas commited suicide.

“The fall alone couldn’t kill her: her animate flesh was nigh indestructible. But the spikes, the hardened blood of an Old God, they not only would tear the body apart but would obliterate the soul as well.”

She died. And entered the ‘hungering darkness’.

"There were others in the darkness. Things she didn’t recognize, because nothing so terrible could exist in the world of the living. Claws tore at her, but she had no mouth with which to scream. Eyes looked at her, but she couldn’t look back.

That all said I’ll bring up an old thread I made many years ago. The Old Gods are Necrophotic Parasites.

" Ohh yes… They Float Georgie… They Float… and when you’re down here, with me… YOU’LL FLOAT TOO!" Sylvanas was floating in The Dead Lights.

“The tortured spirits of your ancestors cling to you, screaming in silence. Apparently they are quite numerous.” -Puzzle Box. Given the supposed Shadowlands expansion which now seems more likely, I wonder how true this will be if we go into the Shadowlands.

They’re old gods. They can’t die. They’re just… not here for a bit, then they come back?

No, they CAN die…

It’s just that WE cannot kill them.

Only the titans and above can. And when they do, it leaves the planet in a bad shape.

If the Titans couldn’t find a good way to kill the Old Gods without destroying the planet, what makes you think we’ll be more successful?

The only exception seems to be Y’sharrj, but I’m not certain on that even with his heart exploding

Otherwise, we just weaken them to the point they have to withdraw, we certainly haven’t left enough of an injury to make a difference

He’s not dead he lives in my closet. He is gaining power from my unwashed clothes as we speak.

If WoW lore has taught me anything it’s that death is flexible.

It depends if Blizzard wants him to actually be dead honestly. Just whatever better fits their story. As we’ve seen them change it off a whim before…

A Titan ripped Y’sharrj from Azeroth and squished him leaving only his heart. Even then his heart was still alive when we found it.

It only died for good after Garrosh drained every ounce of power from it.

You cant kill old gods by beating on them with sticks and magic.

“Have you had the dream again? A black goat with seven eyes that watches from the outside.” -Puzzle Box

Many take this to refer to Y’shaarj. What if his destruction only allowed him to return to Nyalotha?

“In the embrace of the great Nurgle, I am no longer afraid, for with His pestilential favour I have become that which I once most feared: Death.”

“The common man is like a worm in the gut of a corpse, trapped inside a prison of cold flesh, helpless and uncaring, unaware even of the inevitability of its own doom.”

Nope. Only Y’Shaarj is dead, all others are simply “defeated”.

Old Gods are just interdimensional parasites. The biggest problem with killing them, as the Titans found out, is not that they can’t die, it’s that they tend to kill the host when they do.

Would be weird if he was the God of death, seeing that he is an old god/void manifestation and those are supposed to be directly opposed to eachother.

Y’sharrj was basically death with only his heart and the sha left.

He was way too weak by the time we fought his remains (the sha and Garrosh) and finally destroyed him for good after we defeated Garrosh.

But his first “death” severely hurt Azeroth, and his partial “revival” by Garrosh affected most of the Vale of Eternal Blossom

This. Old Gods are servants of the Void Lords, who fear/oppose death above all else.

No he is not

You can’t kill the old gods just de power them

The Old Gods are all very much alive. Y’Shaarj is the only Old God that was killed because he was pulled out of Azeroth by Aman’Thul. That damaged Azeroth pretty badly, which is why they made the plan for C’Thun, Yogg-Saron, and N’Zoth to be imprisoned. N’Zoth is the only one that is actually 100% free now.

We simply beat C’Thun and Yogg-Saron into dormancy. They’re taking very long naps. Their cores are still very much attached to Azeroth, and the only way to kill them is if they were ripped out of the planet like Y’Shaarj was. That would be fatal to Azeroth’s core, and killing everyone on it.

clears throat

I’m just going to take this moment to shamelessly plug myself. Excuse me a moment.

He was essentially ripped apart, not killed. The Sha in Pandaria are what is left of him, and his heart below the Vale. Like trying to cut out a malignant tumor, it’s just not going to work that way. His 7 heads are the 7 manifestations of the Sha. Anger, Despair, Doubt, Fear, Hatred, Pride, and Violence.

Though we “killed” the manifestations, I’m speculative we destroyed his influence. Hell, Xal’atath was essentially destroyed by her brothers yet here she is.

You know… “Merely a setback” and whatnot.

old gods are beyound our ability to kill, easilly killable by a titan though it leaves a bit of a mess. Yogg is still alive, we simply injured him i think. Also he’s still bound so we where really just fighting an avatar i believe.

Also, now that N’Zoth is free. There’s a very high possibility that he’s going to wake up C’Thun and Yogg-Saron.

We’ll find out that Yogg Saron and N’zoth were fighting all this time and we were just pawns in their game.
