Is wow in game voice dead?

No one ever really used it to begin with. It was such a poor experience upon its introduction that everyone just continued to use the other third party options even after Blizzard supposedly improved it. Weirdos used it I guess, but Discord is superior in every way so there’s little reason to use the built in chat.

There’s in-game voice!?

I use the in-game chat every time I play with my friend. Then the in-game chat broke badly for months and we switched to discord.

Then she did something in her discord setting where I heard myself loud enough to deafen me but could barely hear her. She couldn’t figure out what setting it was that was doing that (she had the same issue with other people).

So now we’re back to in-game voice which seems to be working again.

But the general preference does seem to be Discord. More reliable in the long term than Blizzard who fix and break things without any notice always.

Something cant be dead if it was never alive.

You don’t want your comms lagging when the games lag. Best to be kept separate.

they abandoned it a LONG TIME AGO. I think the last expansion they did anything with it was what legion?

Lol last time I ever used it was Cata? MoP?

And it was terrible quality back then.

I’m sure it’s better now, but good luck peeling people away from Discord to use it.

I think the main negative of it was that if you DC’d you’d also lose your communication.

Blizzards ingame voice chat was dead on arrival. The people I know who use voice only use external third party apps like discord.

Back when my brother played (about 2 years ago), we always connected to voice chat via the Blizzard launcher, and it worked rather well. Even if you closed WoW, we could still stay connected and chat.

But yeah, the few times per expansion I pug with randoms, we’d always use Discord.
